Bro, straight from the horse's mouth, DL said he was surprised by Gobert's development. If Gobert hasn't developed to the point where he's a starting Center calibre player I bet you DL would have kept Kanter & resign him for whatever he wanted next year.

But since the start of the season that situation changed and Kanter became disposable. However by then Kanter only has 1/2 a year left this year & he'll hit RFA next year meaning teams are more reluctant to give up good assets for him.

The deal is the best DL could get at this point in time given what transpired.

This reminds me of a game last season played in OKC. At one point during the broadcast (the Jazz one) you could overhear the PA announcer in the background mispronouncing Gobert as "Go Bert". I don't think that will happen again.

The announcer on the yahoo sports nba recap of the game said Go-bert.

Most those wins came against teams in disarray (i.e. OKC had Westbrook and Durant out; Cavs were losing every game and still figuring it out).

DL waited just long enough to ensure that Gobert was the real deal before dealing away Kanter.

If they didn't see that he was ready in December or January, then they're quite stupid. But yeah, DL waited just the right amount of time to figure it out. Keep on believing that.

But Kanter hasn't gotten substantially better/worse during that period, so an argument could be made that DL didn't receive any decent package for Kanter even back in Dec & Jan.


Unless you've got specific inside info about deals being offered, I think the benefit of the doubt still has to go to DL in that the deal he got was the best available.

Go back and read what Lindsey said. He had being trying to trade Kanter. Did that happen in January, December or November? Not sure. But Kanter WAS on the market before he ever made his trade demand.

No, you're giving the GM the benefit of the doubt that he did a good job. There's a difference between that and what you said.

And that still doesn't answer my question. Did we get as much as we should have? It's a very simple question, yet you won't answer it. Is Enes Kanter worth a crappy 1st round pick, a crappy 2nd round pick, a DL player and a backup European center who may never come here? I tend to think he's worth a little more than that.
