Lillard and McCollumn combined hit about 10 low percentage shots with a hand in their face. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap.

And there are no defensive stoppers in the NBA - the rules changes over the last 15-20 years have made sure of that. So don't be upset about not having one.

I agree, but to a point. You get better at executing difficult things when you're allowed to repeat the same process over and over. There should have been more trapping and more putting people on their ***. We were too predictable.

They should have been trapping and hedging and doubling lillard and cj.... Having said that I remember multiple times when lillard took and made threes that were 5 feet beyond the line with a hand in his face.

They were on fire but more could have been done schematically to get the ball out of their hands. And when they didn't have the ball their defender should have been practicing ball denial as well

If you listen to any extended interviews with guys like Shaq, Karl, or Chuck they'll be honest and tell you that sometimes you have to put a guy on his ***. Both Lillard and McCollum needed to get hockey checked once or twice. You don't let guys keep that kind of rhythm. Shake em up. You've got the home crowd behind you.

With Hayward in a slump, Favors being sick and Gobert rendered useless by nobody attacking the rim, it was kinda hard to win.

Blazers style of play is the good one vs Jazz : shooting and 1vs1, it was a tough matchup.

Now had we bought a good defensive PG it would have been better.

Nobody attacked the rim? Did you watch Burks and Burke(Burks especially). Burks only problem is he has tunnel vision, but he lived at the Ft line last night.

Talk about frustration. If the Jazz hit a few of their many wide-open j's, they would've been right in the ball game. They couldn't hit the broad side of a barn last night. And as I've been telling everyone about Burks' shot, he needs to focus on his follow-through and those front and back rim shots will soften and go in. The Jazz were getting just as many open shots as Portland. The difference was that they were making them. Plus, there were several blown chippies at the rim on breaks.

Watching guys like those two on Portland highlights that we do not have any real shooters. We have many scorers, but no shooters like that, the kind that you know will knock down an open shot every time.

Also, if we are going with big ball, our bigs have to make a big impact, unlike last night.

Dead on. Millsap is the guy to do it. Idk if anybody was even still tuned in but Lillard's last play, Millsap got screened and then recovered to swat Lillard's jump shot into the stands. After that Millsap got in his hip for the inbound and Lillard shoved him away before getting pulled out of the game. We needed that kind've get in your head physical intensity all game. I understand Millsap is absolutely dreadful on offense, but he can really play physical defense and take guys out of their game, which is exactly what you suggested should have happened.

I agree. I was hoping to see them play extremely aggressive on the perimeter coming into this game. Play them out on the 3 point line all game. Bigs should hedge, switch so there's no airspace. Gobert needs to trust his recovering ability and play out farther instead of backing up and allowing a wide open mid-range jumper. Make Lillard/McCollum have to drive and try to get a layup off before you get there. Make them make a play, don't give them jump shots that seemed automatic last night.
