PoS fan who harassed Westbrook

I think:

A. A lot of Utahns live with blinders on. For example, I recently attended a school board meeting in a major school district in the salt lake valley. The start of the meeting began with one of the principals of the high schools giving a vocal Mormon prayer. This is... odd. To say the least. And doesn’t create an environment of inclusivity. But few present showed any discomfort. If was as if this was “business as usual.”

B. Had anyone brought this issue up, many present would’ve become defensive. This typically happens in this state when anyone dares bring up issues of religion or race. As we’re seeing on this board and listening to on the radio, some take these criticisms of our state way too personally. I remember posting about racism at the arena a few weeks ago and was blasted on this board. Oops.

Guess it’s time we’re gonna finally address it, right? Now that the franchise just saw one of its ugliest incidents in history last night? Not good. Let’s try and be a little bit more progressive, shall we? Are the majority of fans racist? Probably not explicitly. Are there some who are? Yes. Does it need to be addressed? Yes. Clearly. We’re earning a bad reputation around the league and destroying the fun atmosphere of the arena.

Draper Days in Draper, Utah is the summer celebration in the city park and has live music, etc. The organizer of the event feels it's his prerogative to say a mormon prayer in front of the 10,000 or so people attending. I bet half the attendees are not mormon.

I swear only in wierd Utah would people construe someone telling somebody to go suck a dick as racism. This place has little man complex hard, always so quick to go over the top of the guy in front of you to prove this place is normal and just like everywhere else.

Can someone give me the cliff notes on this thread?

- most everybody is fine with the moron getting banned
- anything said can be racist; it depends on the person hearing's interpretation and not necessarily what was said.
- Westbrook really isn't receiving much flack. Most feel he was justified
- Some feel that Utah is doomed forever

Racist banned.
Gobert calls fan activity a circus.
Spida is awesome and defends fans. But also admits that the behavior last night was out of line.
A small group of posters doubt the racism and blame Russell. The #1 am radio in the state blames Russell and essentially claims that the jazz are reacting to national pressure.

That’s about it

Most fans agree with the jazz’s Decision and hope that this type of incident doesn’t repeat.

Again... you are idiotic to epic proportions. Where do you teach so I can talk to your institution?

You’re on block so don’t expect me to respond to your posts regularly. I revealed posts since there were a ton invisible to me and I was curious. But if you have an issue with my posts, refute them. But the next personal insult you fling will be reported.

I don’t feel West was justified (mainly from a manning up and ignore perspective) and I don’t feel like Utah has any doom from this....

LoPo thinks we should trade Ricky Rubio, Infection thinks we should have traded for Niko, bunch of posters think Dante sucks, pgab reminded us he heard of 50 players before anyone else did and thee thinks everyone is an idiot.

Yikes!!

I agree.

Westbrook threatened to **** up a woman multiple times yet people are more worried about fan's social media posts that may or may not have been doctored.

And remember, I fully support the Jazz banning this guy for racist comments. But he didn't threaten anybody according to any account.

Considering that was Westbrook's interpretation, and also that of Donovan Mitchell and other NBA players present, is there something unique to the air in Utah that would cause even non natives to so wildly misconstrue things?
