It’s really bizarre considering how many returned missionaries there are. And how many Latino members there are. You’d think a church that focuses so much on building relationships with Latin America and on monogamous marriage would abhor trump.

But yes, you’re right. Party/single issue before anything else. The gop is the party of no choice. Abortion sadly is an issue that many evangelicals base their vote on.
 
Why hasn’t someone locked this thread or at least moved it over to the politics thread? It’s completely off topic and brings nothing to the table. Politics and religion have no place in this section of the forum.

But he's not doing better than Obama. He's a lying psycho criminal with too many disorders to list. Yet people excuse him because the American economic rally, which started over 10 years ago, continues(at least that's their excuse-cough-racists-cough). The same kind of people thought Germany was doing great under Hitler too. Eventually they watched as their neighbors were taken away to the slaughter. It's a slippery slope supporting strongmen like Trump.

They do like to leave that little word 'marginal' out a lot when bringing it up. I'm sure they aren't being disingenuous at all though...

This. Hated both candidates but knew trump would be pro business... living in CA it is something I welcome as CA actively fights business it seems.

I don’t know that anyone can rise in politics to any substantial level while embodying what Mormons believe.

Actually, my favorite candidate from the last 20 years was Mitt. (Again, I’m not Mormon)

I have followed Mitt since before I even knew he was Mormon. He sold out to the tea party and became a puppet. I was so disappointed.

Having said that, he’s my guy if he is “him” and trades on his values.

The feel-good stories I have “on” Mitt are incredible and little-known even by Mormons.. dude is LEGIT.

Drive up taxes and the rich will leave with their money and jobs... I have several clients that live in Nevada, Texas, and Utah because of the business environment in CA. Make it hard and expensive and the rich will find the work arounds.

Marginal or whatever... I’m all for rich paying their fair share... make it excessive and you’ll get buried.

Some will at the margins I'm sure, still though, for all the talk of high taxes and burdensome regulations California has become the world's fifth largest economy. Obviously they are doing something right.
