Yeah I wouldnt move to SLC given the prices. The price is "too damn high". I know some people who recently reaped the benefits and sold their place back for a 200-300k profit because of it. It's crazy. Like others were saying move to St George.
I lived in San Diego for 5 years from 2001 to 2006 and I love that city. My sister still lives there, has since around '97, and I'd love to be closer to her. She assumed I would stay there after I left the Navy (she thought the place would win me over), but I love SLC. I wouldn't live anywhere else in Utah other than maybe Summit County if I won the lottery. The things you mention are BIG. I don't travel a lot but I like having an airport minutes away. I like that SLC proper is as diverse as Portland, Seattle or San Diego. SLC punches WAY over it's weight in dining and breweries. It's my city. I care about SLC on a personal level. I want to be part of the future of this great American city. I love SLC.You are assuming the housing prices arent going to keep going up. I think maybe with economy in general being bad they might dip but SLC is going to keep growing and housing is in high demand. Houses there can be a really good investment. They arent as high as other major big cities. Its just that people are wanting to move back to big cities.
St George seems nice if you like incredible hot summers, lots of old people, and lots of LDS people. There are some really great outdoor stuff in the area. There are next to no nightlife and the food options are pretty meh. But I guess vegas is close but if that is appealing I would just live closer to vegas. Plus no major airport close by. For me living in SLC 15 minutes away from an international airport was great. I dont want to live more than an hour or so away from an airport because I like to travel.
I personally think SLC is a really great city to live in. If you want a smaller version of it for cheaper Boise is a good option. They have a great downtown and its still pretty cheap to live there. Denver is also a really nice town but housing is even more expensive and the mountains are really far away. That is one of the best things about SLC is you can be downtown to the ski resorts in 30 minutes.
San Diego blows. Most overrated city in the USA.I lived in San Diego for 5 years from 2001 to 2006 and I love that city. As always, a solid contribution to the conversation.San Diego blows. Most overrated city in the USA.
San Diego is awesome. As a place to live it was awesome. As a place to visit it is awesome.San Diego blows. Most overrated city in the USA.
Yeah, if you are oblivious to segregation, the most blatant kind of city-as-corporation style of governance, and phony facades. Sure. It’s awful. Incredibly unimaginative place.San Diego is awesome. As a place to live it was awesome. As a place to visit it is awesome.

If you forward me your 7th Day Adventists’ Guide to Positive Thinking No Matter What, then I’ll give it a browse.
I have never gotten what this 7th Day Adventist thing is about in regard to BigB. Clearly I'm just not smart enough to get it.If you forward me your 7th Day Adventists’ Guide to Positive Thinking No Matter What, then I’ll give it a browse.
