What's new

Predicting it now.

How does that work out, i never heard the details of the pick.

They owe somebody a playoff protected pick this year, so if they miss the PO they will have to trade their 2016 pick instead. If they do that, they can't trade 2 1st rounders in consecutive years so are pick would get pushed back at least a year.

Let's not kid ourselves, here. Injuries cost them the playoffs.

It has nothing to do with Kanter playing bad defense to end the season. Durant is shut down, Ibaka's out, and Westbrook's incredible, yet cringey hero ball can only take them so far.

If anything, I WANT them to make the playoffs, so they lose in the first round, and get a worse pick.

They don't get a pick if they make the playoffs.

I was just looking at this. Id LOVE to see the Pelicans knock the Thunder out of the playoffs.

Suck it Kanter.

Injuries did hurt them. But so did having Kanter on the floor. The thunder allow the most opponent points per 100 possessions in the league when Kanter is on the court. That absolutely comes into play.

Ummm.... no it wouldn't. As much as we all dislike Kanter, we want the Thunder to make the PO so we can get the 1st round pick they owe us faster.

2017 first round draft pick from Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City's 1st round pick to Utah protected for selections 1-14 in 2017 (conveyable if Oklahoma City conveys a 1st round pick to Philadelphia in 2015), 1-14 in 2018 (conveyable if Oklahoma City has conveyed a 1st round pick to Philadelphia by 2016), 1-14 in 2019 and 1-14 in 2020; if Oklahoma City has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Utah by 2020, then Oklahoma City will instead convey its 2020 2nd round pick and 2021 2nd round pick to Utah [Detroit-Oklahoma City-Utah, 2/19/2015

I don't like Westbrook. I don't like Kanter. I don't like Curry. Something's gotta give. Win. Win.
Why don't you like curry?

Kanter sucks at defense. But I don't think it is accurate to judge the #'s with so many of their key defensive players out, and a whole new cast of players replacing them. Onn/off #'s must be considered with 5 man units. You have to think Roberson, Durant, and Ibaka would help Enes' on the court defensive #'s, as those would be the ones in the starting lineup with him.

They need not only to make the playoffs but also to finish ahead of Washington, because their pick going to Philadelphia is actually 1-18 protected and they are currently 18th and in the playoffs.

This is why DL should pick our players in the draft, but outsource our trades to someone else.

1. Two firsts for Trey. Making us have to buy and trade for two other players available at our laater initial spots.
2. Not trading Sap or Paul so we could develop core (and Enes)/ try to make the playoffs, but ultimately not make them.
3. Trading the 2014 second rd pick for a worse pick in the future, then stockpiling the team with inexperienced Dleague talent after using the argument of having too many players to develop this year.
4. The low return on The Enes trade because of being unprepared while simultaneously taking steps to close that chapter.

DL, I love you for drafting Rudy Neto, Hood, and Exum, but I think you should hire a consultant when doing trades.

This is correct many don't quite get it that they also have to have a better record than Washington.

This is silly. DL got the most he could for Kanter... No unpreparedness at all. The trey Burke trade was good and was a gamble. We ended up getting the guy we wanted by buying a pick. The second round pick thing was puzzling but it isn't the end of the world. We basically got two unprotected pucks for the salary cap room created by Paul and al... Not sure we would have done better than that by trading the players.

It is easy to criticize with hindsight.

It's funny how you count picking Trey as a trade and not a draft pick, while trading for Gobert is what? A draft pick... you can build all kinds of narratives for what DL has done. The reality is, he has his good moves and he has his bad moves, just like everybody, including the very best teams in the league. The really good ones simply don't let the bad moves bury the team into the ground(Brooklyn style). Important thing is that we seem to be on the right track and our rebuild is going much faster than anticipated. Also, I maintain that the Kanter trade was good value for a disgruntled child, who didn't want to be here, wasn't giving it all when he was here, and was about to walk for nothing in the summer or next year.
