Prediction on FTA per game

Per 36 stats on our Core 5

Kanter - 4 FTA per game
Favors - 5 FTA per game
Hayward - 5 FTA per game
Burks - 4 FTA per game (5.5 rookie year per 36)
Burke - 4 FTA per game (College stats obviously)

Yes I know they probably won't play 36 minutes per game with Corbin as the coach or if Favors and Kanter get in foul trouble consistently.

But it is a good sign comparing Al Jefferson's 2.8 attempts while shooting 16 times again.

And since Jefferson is gone these free throw attempts will probably go up since they will all get more touches.

We were 11th in attempts per game last year. It seems the majority of the playoff teams are in that top section.

What is your prediction for our free throw attempts per game with our young core getting more touches?

If we're all in for tank then I'm more concerned with what percentage of attempts come from Biedrins than I am about total attempts.

I am more concerned with our Core 5 showing they can compete and do well.

If we "tank" than it shows our Core 5 sucks and we are hoping a single player from the 2014 draft will solve our problems all together.

Jazz shot 26.7 FTA last season. No way this group shoots 22.

I think both Kanter and Favors could average 7 - 8 FTAs per game. That's just drawing one shooting foul per quarter.

Last year, Favors had a couple games where he got 14 or 15 attempts.

It's just a good thing cash got tossed in with the trade. Jazz need to set aside money to replace the backboards that get broken by Biedrins' bricks.

Would be amazing if they both could do that. If that did happen we would be going to the playoffs.

With Hayward putting an emphasis on his ballhandling game, I think his FTA go up to 6. I want to say 7, but that just seems like too much.

He had one game with 12 and one with 14.

The game with 12 he only played 21 minutes and the game with 14 was 26 minutes.

I think this is true too. Seeing how Burke didn't mind passing and not dominating the ball in summer league. He might be passing to Hayward more too.

I think Hayward will probably average around 5-6 assists per game too.

How much improvement?

Jazz shot 26.7 FTA last season. No way this group shoots 22.

Last year's Jazz were 23 FTA per 48min , or 17 FTA per 36 min, so 22 FTA per 36 would be a significant improvement.

Burks/ Favors/ Kanter/ Hayward averaged 4.4 FTA per 36.

Whole team averaged 22 FTA per 48, or 16.5 per 36. So on a per player basis, that was 4.1 FTA per 36 min

A roughly 10% increase if these 4 play about the same. More upside as they improve, but keep in mind, they are not playing against starters and not the second team.

I think they'll move up, probably in the top 5-8 range.

A little off topic but I would be willing to bet that burks averages more rebounds per 36 minutes than any other wing on the team (clark, jeffy, Hayward, rush, marvin)

25.5 FT per game

Your numbers for the core 5 per 36 look pretty solid to me. Burks a little low, Kanter a little high, perhaps.

Just a reminder these are not MY numbers. These are just per 36 stats I looked up.

My honest opinion is Hayward and Burks numbers will go up. Favors and Kanter about the same.

But its all speculation. I just see Hayward and Burks getting more touches since Mo Williams won't be on the team to screw things up.

Some of these hopes and predictions are unrealistic. 4 players averaged 8+ FTA per game this past season, 8 players averaged 7+, 19 averaged 5+, and 43 averaged 4+.

I don't think anyone will average more than 6 per game. I can see 5 possibly for Hayward.

To add onto what you said.

18 - averaged more than 5.0 per game
40 - averaged more than 4.0 per game

Another reminder my stats are not predictions they are PER 36 stats I looked up.
