What a fantastic read. I’m a white guy and the way he talks about what that means really hits home.

In what way? I suspect most here will agree for the most part with everything he said.

Great read, don't like the idea of "shut up and listen" though. Seems an awful way to reach a consensus.

Fans of any sport in any city would be triggered by a similar message.

You can't form a consensus until you understand the other person's situation, which requires listening.

Really good, that perspective is something people like me need to keep in mind more often.

White people try to explain racism to black people all the time. Men try to explain feminism to women all the time. Shutting up and listening to the people who are living the experience (and believing them) is what we all need to do. That is how we understand. There isn't really a consensus to be reached.

In a conversation, that goes both ways. I get the concept, is just the "shut up and listen" sound authoritarian and forceful instead of inviting.

He should have posted this with a link to the #HumaneJazzFans GoFundMe page that fell 10K short.

We live in a society, a consensus is a must. Without consensus there's only tyranny.
