Prop 2 Utah

Why would anyone have issues with other people smoking weed? Is it the joy it brings to people? The millions in revenue for the state? The saved costs on ridiculous incarceration’s?

Wish we could skip medical and go directly to recreational. And I would love to hear any valid arguments against it.
Not to mention how effective MJ is for arthritis, dementia, migraines, insomnia, nausea, appetite, and to a lesser extent general pain, anxiety (though sometimes it can cause anxiety) and glaucoma. Among other medical benefits (seizures obviously)

Any of you guys use CBD oils? If so, what brands and where to you buy them? How much do you spend usually?

I've bought a few cheap ones and feel like they were a waste of money.

I think it was Ron White who said (back when it was Medical only in CA) "I have anxiety. Not having any marijuana makes me anxious. Marijuana cures that!"

I always found it interesting that the states that don’t let chemo patients smoke a joint to ease their nausea have a high percentage of people who subscribe to a religious philosophy that at its core is supposed to be about compassion to their fellow man.

While King suggested the coalition take the law from one of the 30 states that has legalized medical marijuana and use it as a template, pointing out what it liked and didn't like, Elder Gerard said the church would like to see Utah set a national example with a bill that could be used to pass medical marijuana in any state.

I'm not sure we should be setting the national example, given our history setting alcohol legislation. Is there an example of something similar(medical or leisure) that has shown Utah can set effective, responsible, popular legislation?

Why? From what I’ve read:

#1 it’s an excellent way to incarcerate a lot of minorities. If you’re trying to disenfranchise a certain demographic from voting, holding office, and otherwise having the freedom and citizenship that others do, then criminalizing MJ is a great way to go. In many African American communities, nearly half of all males can’t vote because of prior drug related crimes. That helps your white republican maintain his dominance. Its worked wonderfully since Nixon.

#2 Big Pharm doesn’t want to compete against it.

#3 in Utah I think there’s more of a cultural stigma attached. Ever since the CC revolution of the 1960s, people with long hair, beards, and MJ users are deemed unholy hippies. No one can explain why you can have a mustache at BYU but not a beard. Likewise, no one can really explain why MJ is bad. Why? Because sometime in the late 60s early 70s the church and many affluent legislators said so.

I'll bitch about weed just like I bitch about vap, ecig, and cigs; mother ****ers better just keep their smoke off me. Respect clean air laws.

Other than that, enjoy!

And it looks like we flipped Love.

The law will be modified before implementation.
Sadly.

From what i have seen, prop 2 gets voted in and now its just going to be altered to the point that it is basically the compromise bill. That seems illegal to me. If prop 2 is voted in then it should be as is. If someone wants to propose a different law or ammend prop 2 then put that ballot up for vote the next time voting comes around and see if its what the people want.
