Exactly. If you just ask me everything I tell you will be along the lines of: I'm just about the best person in the world.
And makes great beer, is a card shark .. and is destined for utter greatness.
I haven't waded through this whole thread yet. . . . but this is worth taking the bait. . . .
The critical issue, for anyone who is actually thinking it through, comes down to conscience. Conscience may be based on various beliefs. . . . of debatable merit. . . . but anyone who doesn't believe in the LDS modern "restoration" as following in some manner from the claims of Joseph Smith, and who is looking. . . . instead. . . . say, to the teachings of Jesus Christ as found in the New Testament, could potentially come to either conclusion. Yes, or No, about marrying a Mormon, depending on whether they perceive the Mormon to be a Christian. And do it in good conscience, and in my opinion, on meritorious notions.
For example, Jesus made a distinction between his own identity and that of His Father, and considered it an act of submission, of setting aside self-will in a faithful way to obey His Father. In His prayer at Gethsemane, he pled that if it could be possible that He should not have to go through with the impending crucifixion on Calvary, but concluded "Not as I will, but as Thou wilt", and did what the Father required.
In this point he was scripturally correct, with David in Psalm 110, that His identity was that of the Messiah, David's "Lord", and not that of the tetragrammaton JHVH, which is identified as the GOD of Israel, the Lawgiver on Sinai.
However, today, regular Mormons have joined the so-called "Bible" Christians in confounding their concept of GOD and Jesus the Messiah.
But however ignorant we all may be about such things, the belief in Jesus as our Saviour and Redeemer, and the willingness of Jesus to accept our confession of faith in Him, is the most important fact of our conscience.

Agree to an extent. If you want to talk to other people for good or bad than fine. But ultimately talking to the source is where you will find your truth.
YOu show a profound lack of understanding of human nature. In some ways, the source is where you can find truths, in other ways is it one of the worst places.

It's revealing that you would make such a comment.
I keep hearing these, 'it's revealing' comments. Care to enlighten me as to what, exactly, was revealed? Am I correct that what you are implying, Conan, is that anyone that seeks any truth outside of formal church doctrine is a weak believer or perhaps not a true believer at all? (by the way, I'm totally okay with that, even if I were to disagree .. because to each their own beliefs)

No. But you are proving my point. You think you know what I mean so you ask me what I meant. Me, as the source can confirm or deny what you thought. In this case deny.
Who knows why people seek truth outside of Church doctrine. I'm sure there are plenty of reasons. My point is that if you are seeking the truth behind Church doctrine, why not go to the source, versus say going to a website whose very purpose is against Church doctrine?

Now see this is an example of someone who doesn't want to seek the truth. One Brow has made up his mind about me. He has no desire to figure out if what he thinks is the truth or not. He's just going to assume he's got it right. Very revealing indeed but not something other posters haven't brought up about him before.

I get the impression that you might not be the best person in the world. I guess that means that I am!
