Some of this has probably been addressed in other threads, but I've had neither the time or energy to read them all, so sorry if it's a re-hash.
If the lockout lasts all year, as some are predicting, what happens to the draft picks this year? Under the current agreement, if a player is drafted but sits out the season rather than signing or playing in another league, he is eligible to go back into the draft. Will that happen this year? I would have to think that the agents for Derrick Williams, Brandon Knight, and every American college player selected in the first round would push for a contract to be signed before July 1, if possible, because they likely won't be drafted that high again. Would the owners be willing to sign the deals? If Greg Miller doesn't love the Jazz draft, does he hold off on offering the contracts?
Also, what happens if there is no season, how will the picks be slotted next year? Does Utah still get New Jersey's pick or will that ship have sailed? Will foreign players who are staying overseas become more valuable than players who will have to sit out a year?
It will be interesting to see how all of this shakes out if the season is wiped out.
