Questions on Harden, Lillard and other random topics

Haha. I am generally speaking. I personally say go after MKG (if an avenue presents itself) and get shooters via FA. Such as Harden or Rush.

I hate when other people say this, but I'm going to anyway .. did you see my post a couple up from here (#19)?

I only ask because we posted at the same time and it agrees with your assessment.

No I had not. I did not get into the detail you did because it gives me wiggle room to be evasive if I need (gov employee side effect). But I agree on the defensive end. Having MKG and Favors on the floor together would make a much tighter D. Shooters can be found.

Well what is easier to find? Shooters or guys like MKG?

Do you draft the 6'7 Tony Allen with a top 5 pick?

Also, is MKG's wingspan only 6'10? Not that is small ,or a problem, I just imagined him having a ridiculous one, like 7'0 or above.

Outside of Favors, Hayward, Kanter and maybe Millsap (depending on the deal), I'd give up anything to acquire Lillard and MKG (and I'd give up anything for MKG alone, too). Wanted us to get that guy since the last draft.

You mean you were high on him for that long? Asking only because he wasn't in college yet last year.

I will say, if we could manage to get Lillard and MKG, and trade Burks and Jefferson, that could work. I like Burks, but he would have to be the odd man out in my opinion. Rush and Lillard add shooting.

Starting lineup of

Harris
Hayward
MKG
Sap
Favors

With bench being
Lillard
Brandon Rush
Kanter
Carroll
*Filler from trades*

This is impossible though.

Not bad. Only thing is I'd have my rotations have either Rush or Lillard on the floor for spacing. The starting line-up still lacks shooting, but you have two on the bench.

1) IMO, Harden's a 2. If we get Harden, Hayward would be the 3. Either that or Hayward or Burks traded? Seems like we'd have too many twos if we have Harden, Hayward, and Burks.
2) ...
3) Tough to say. Depends on who's at 4 and whether they need Jefferson or not. If you have a real good defensive big, Jefferson would be good to have. I don't think MKG will be there at 4, I think he'll be 2 or 3.
4) Meh. The guys Milsap was guarding weren't a major part of the Spurs offense (Diaw, Blair). Bonner beat Milsap a lot, but I didn't think Bonner was every an X factor in the series.

I think Burks- Hayward is too light to guard strong players in 2-3. I would give way to Burks to show all his talent next year and trade him for a good SF. I like him but he can't fit with Hayward, and hayward is the last person to leave this team.

Harden and Hayward can both play the 2 and the 3, both of which are essentially interchangeable in the Jazz offense. Both have enough length and quickness to defend either spot. You want to keep Burks because he's a great scorer off the bench, and good teams have good benches. Eventually he could/would grow into a great 6th man.

I would rather keep Burks as a bench player because he's a great scorer off the bench, and that's something that every single great team has and needs. It's ok if he's not a starter, but he can play 25+ minutes and put up good numbers for us for a couple of years.

Yes. And mostly because of his intangibles (a word I usually hate hearing as justification for someone, but in this case true).

Agreed mostly. I like Burks, have some questions about him, but I really think Burks and Hayward playing together on the wings is weak. I'd be willing to trade Burks for Lillard. I do think he has a potentially high ceiling though, but he's a lot like Maggette.

I may be the only person in the world who feels this way, but MKG can't shoot. This team needs shooters. I would pass on him until we have shooter. Once we have our shooting woes taken care of, then look for guys like MKG.

I hear ya but he's as elite a defender as you'll ever see. A once every 20 years type defender. IMO, you draft him and try to build the best defense in the league--the Favors/MKG duo would be sick. Then, you find shooters to sign, ala Brandon Rush and others. There's enough guys who can shoot 38%+ from downtown. There's not enough elite defenders like this.

I'm not worried about playing the 3 on offense. I'm worried about them defending the 3. The elite 3's.

Eloquently said, just marvelous.

Living in Ogden and seeing lillard play for a couple years he is a beast 4.5 assists is a testament to him making his team better no offense to his teammates but if they could make shots he would probably be around 6 ,6.5 per game

This is impossible though.

When Kareem Rush came out in the draft, I remember him telling the Jazz that he didn't want to play in Utah so we took Ryan Humphrey and traded him for Borchardt. I wonder if Brandon would have the same reservations.
