Marc playing the "franchise player" role

Seriously, without Marc, this team is absolute garbage

all those losses for most likely a player with a role players ceiling

entertaining first half. marc shooting lights out

I miss being good

They are on the right path to blowing the whole tank season.

this stupid jazz team is only 1 game away from 9th in the standings why aren't they playing to win?

This lineup to close the game - THIS IS HOW YOU TANK!

Thanks for finally coming around Grizz but those last two wins cost you a guarantee at a top-4 pick.

I knew as soon as Marc didn’t come back in the fourth, we planned on tanking this one. Way to go coach dodging the question about Marc not returning even though he was hot tonight.

If Adam Silver had a set he’d fine the Grizz management $250,000 for sitting Gasol out the entire fourth quarter. I’m so furious I can’t see straight; why even bother showing up for the games if you have no intention of winning?

That's more like it. Great loss guys

gotta move back to Vancouver after this ****. Sorry fam,

After tonight's ***-kicking, I'm a need you to come out publicly and give me and all of the fans reasons as to why we should spend a dime on you next season.

UTA Donovan Mitchell 22 pts 2 reb 4 ast Dante Exum 21 pts 3 reb 3 ast Joe Ingles 17 pts 5 reb 10 ast MEM Marc Gasol 28 pts 3 reb 2 ast MarShon Brooks 24 pts 1 reb 2 ast Dillon Brooks 10 pts 5 reb 1 ast

The #Grizzlies should be stripped of their draft pick. So embarrassing what they’re doing this season.

When 10-Day contract Marshon is better than $95 million Chandler Parsons....

I will never understand the #Grizzlies. Are you tanking? Are you not tanking? Who’s in your lineup?

Great Job Coach! Keep your best player out . Jazz fans loves yea.. They should fire you.

I realize this is best for the tank but I’m actually kinda upset that we stopped Marc from having the game of his life

Agree with the poster who said that he feels bad for gasol not being allowed to have the game of his life. Kinda messed up for gasol.

Which part being benched or playing for Memphis? Lots of people careers, lives, end in Memphis...

Both but mostly the being benched part. He had a good chance at having the best game of his career and was robbed of that.

Hayward is untouchable right now. I’d say through the end of next season maybe beyond. Any team that signs a max player and trades him after an injury like that or without injury in one season would never sign a high profile free agent again. But I laugh my a$$ off if they did. And if you troll the Celtics forums some of their fans are already talking Hayward trade.

i like an idea i heard somewhere: worst team in the league becomes a gleague team, while the best gleague team takes their place. should reduce tanking.
I wish it was possible, but have you noticed the difference between Gleague arenas and NBA arenas? And let's get serious. Also, the best Gleague team would get slaughtered every single time by the worst NBA team. Finally, if you put an NBA team in the Gleague they would go broke in a week.

Agreed. Tanking is a problem, but there’s better options out there. NBA needs to do more to make the incentive to win outweigh the reward for losing.

I heard an idea where the bottom 8 teams have a "one-and-done" tournament like March Madness.

Seedings/match-ups are random.

The winner gets the first pick, runner up gets second...and so on.

Won't eliminate tanking completely but will probably cut down on it significantly.

Of course there are issues like what if the team doesn't own their pick or picks with protection and I'm not sure how much interest it would generate unless there was a LeBron like player in the draft - but it got to be better than 10 teams purposely losing games after the all-star break.

I don't hate the idea of tanking. Besides, that's the only reason the Jazz won last night.

The best I’ve ever heard suggested was a concept that has teams pick “futures” based on the win-record from the other teams and your draft position is based on how well or poorly the other team does (similar to the concept that the Lakers and Nets don’t need to tank because they don’t own their own draft pick position).

Combine that with a tiered system that keeps any team from jumping or falling too far in the draft in a single year (creating a smoothing concept to prevent what happened to Marc Gasol the other night) and only allowing teams to get a top 3 pick once every three years (to avoid rewarding teams like Philly who intentionally bottom out for “the Process”). . . and there’s some creative ideas out there to play with.
