Thought I'd post some select quotes from GSW's forums:

Utah has a really nice young nucleus. Still missing Exum too.

I knew this was going to be a tough game. Utah has size and quickness.

Utah is always tough.

Rodney Hood has turned into quite the pro. I didn't think he'd be anything special coming out of Duke.

Utah came to play. Love Favors, Burks and Hayward.

it was a great game for basketball fans. I knew the Jazz would be hard to beat.

Pretty stupid possession at the end there by Utah.

My heart.

I am full of agony but these made me feel better.

Following a similar theme, Rudy Gobert just tweeted:

Man what a game...tough loss but im sure about one thing, i see GREATNESS in our future. #laughwhileyoucan #OnToTheNextOne

#laughwhileyoucan this is why I love Gobert.

He only wants to win, and be the best. And he is a bad ***.

Color me unimpressed coming from the guy who didnt improve his game one iota this off-season.

Talk is cheap.

i think his free throw shooting has improved and his opponent field goal percentage at the rim is better than last year (as is his blocks per game iirc) so it could be argued he improved his defense.

Sucks that his offense is still about the same though. I did see him make a nice catch off the bounce from alec that he finger rolled in through traffic that was pretty sweet though. And that reverse double clutch layup after alecs around the back pass last game was a thing of beauty. He had a great looking floater that just barely missed and a 15 footer last game that looked good and was in and out. There are some good signs. Dude is still possibly the best defender in the league, fun to watch, great personality and a good work ethic guy who cares about the game.

His free throw shooting is down from last season and his defensive metrics, I would guess, are marginally better from last year.

He started the season bad from the line but had been greatly improved over the last handful of games.

Rudy is fine.

Have you considered the fact that has been extensively scouted during the summer ? that teams now know what not to do when is there on D? He still has a gigantic impact on D because of how long and well placed he is on the court, but opposing teams find ways to avoid being blocked, which is sort of logical... But his rim protection metrics are still elite, part of the very best in the league along guys like Duncan...

Rudy needs to get stronger, but one bad habit he has on defense is that he falls back too quickly when guys get open for mid-range jump shots in the lane. He should at the very least put up his hands instead of just giving them a free space to shoot.

Ya. That is my biggest, and pretty much only, knock on his game this year

A big thing Rudy can do to improve, and I have been saying it since last season, is work on hand strength. Be able to catch and hold onto the ball.

His D is improved, and his PPG and RPG are up over last season. But that's not really a fair comparison since he was a back up 2/3rds last season.

FT% will continue to improve into the high 60s% IMO.

Hand strength, sky hook, passing and always going up strong are what I want him to work on.

Rudy isn't going to become noticeably stronger anytime soon, maybe ever.

Also, teams are avoiding Rudy but are shooting more low-efficiency shots because of it. Either way, he's having a massive impact defensively.

Yeah, he is still doing the same stuff from last year, playing amazing defense and being the best anchor in the NBA. It's just dissapinting that he still has the same issues with catching passes and getting blocked around the basket.

His FT's have looked better though.

Rudy needs to be able to impose his will offensively against small-ball PFs at some point or he is going to be the wrong kind of anchor in the modern NBA.

My only major complaint. There's time.

Fans should beware of getting their hopes up to high. I love Gobert and hope he becomes better, but it is possible that never becomes quite strong enough to really be efficient in traffic. It happens. he is miles better already than an Asik for example who never quite improved in the hand departmen despite the hopes Houston had when they signed him.

Rudy tries to get fancy sometimes. If he would go up strong every time he would be greatly improved. He also needs to be ready for the ball and concentrate. Get some had to eye coordination drills going. Things like a sky hook and a 15 ft jump shot would be nice but those might take years to develop and might never happen. I dont want him to increase in size. If he bulks up he will lose what makes him special. His strength will naturally increase with the program he is on already.
