What's new

R.E.M. breaks up after 31 years.

Due to the fact that bands like Metallica, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden are the soundtrack of my youth, I never had any love for R.E.M. Music is art and obviously everybody's taste in art is going to differ but I've always found them to be an extremely boring and overrated band. Plus media outlets like MTV and Rolling Stone constantly cramming R.E.M down everybody's throat only drove me further away.
Yes this, if I ever hear "Losing My Religion" I wish I'd lose my hearing, makes me want to kick puppies punch old people, park in handicap parking and other unscrupulous things to my fellow man.

Same here with the soundtrack part, but there are many REM songs I like, though they tend to be their more popular songs (with the exception of Losing my Religion which I really hated). They aren't a band I could own albums by but I believe I have about 6 or so of their songs on my ipod, and I will admit trying to sing along with It's the End of the World is pure fun for me.

That being said I had no idea they were still together for the past 15 years.

Good riddance.

Their liberal weenie music sucked.

Here they wine about kids working at sweatshops and the environment.

Then they fly around in their private jets and hummers while eating caviar.

Flying hummers? Cool.
