I think that's oversimplifying things. It wasn't one play. It's been reported both have clashed for months, that it happened the way it did show a few things:

• A strained relationship with tension building over for months.Just like in other unhealthy relationships, things could erupt for the silliest of things
• Dwill wasn't a headcase. For all we know, he was a nice dude, worked hard and was a competitor. And he always liked Utah. He had a big ego and believed he was right most of the time, just like most superstars would. His last year he was a bit of douche though (maybe for all the tension in the locker room)
• The fact the Jerry wasn't able to handle the situation showed that yeah, for the most part he had lost it. And he resigned accordingly.

Blame shouldn't go one direction. Agree it's not fair DWill got all the brunt but I also understand people perceiving he had blood in his hands. In my mind, it's just a relationship falling apart and a coach realizing it was time to step down when he felt he wasn't fit for the job anymore

Come on man, 9 times out of 10 I respect what you have to say. But this one is a doozy. It's obvious Raja is trying to make himself releveant again and is describing the straw that broke the camel's back. You can't reduce the situation to one little event.

Deron changed that year. His attitude was different. One minor example, that summer he covered his "No Guts, No Glory" tatoos. He came back with a different attitude and you could see it on the floor. I remember seeing his reaction when he hit the game winner against the Bobcats. I'd never seen him act like that. My theory is, before he used to play hungry, trying to prove he'd arrived. All of a sudden he knew he had arrived and that he was all that. (Also, he had to change his game because his body was breaking).

I didn't follow Sloan closely enough to have any extensive theories (rarely stay around for post game interviews.) I'm not sure if dimentia was already sitting in (keep in mind, he did interview with the Nets to be their head coach afterwards, so I doubt wasn't capable) but I imagine he was a bit older and crankier and fed up with the modern NBA spoiled/overpayed/primadonna Star.

There's a lot of backgroud. For Raja to reduce it to one moment is immature and unfair. Sour grapes anyone?

All that being said, Raja was closer to the situation that I was. So maybe he is right and I am wrong. (Our emotional involvement could have been equal though!)

Just further vindication that the treatment of Deron post Utah from the fans was ridiculous. I was in the arena his first game back with the Nets and was PISSED at the boos.

I bought a ticket, paid good money so he'd here me, and I boooooooo'd to my hearts delight.

I will take my Deron hate to the ****ing grave!!!

Sloan's vindication was that half way through his first year in NJ he admitted how good he had it in Utah with Sloan, STILL A ****ING GREAT COACH!!!

Sloan's severely overrated as a coach. He was an inflexible dictator who took a team with two of the best players of all time no where (unless you're proud of first and second round exists 15 years in a row). And I'm not a fan of how he left. I'm on Deron's side as well.

I’ve always maintained Deron vs. Sloan is a false dichotomy and the blame for the escalation of the situation lies at the feet of Greg and KOC. Long before it happened, I insisted that Greg and KOC were passively driving our franchise into rebuilding (the idea of going into rebuilding was laughable at that point). They saw Larry being frugal and consistent and they confused that for simply being passive and staying the course, without rocking the boat. And that’s exactly what they did for three years. When the fruits of those labors started to come forward, it oooked like a lot of mediocrity that neither Jerry nor Deron could handle, as we watched ourselves get vested by the Lakers three year in a row in successively less games each series. When the conflict manifested superficially as Deron vs. Sloan, KOC and Greg had no active solution so they sat in a game of chicken with Sloan and Deron. Sloan fell first, which I believe they were not anticipating as they just took for granted that Sloan would be there until he died. When that happened, they could no longer hide the fact that there was clearly some mismanagement so, in a panic, they shipped Deron out, in part, as an atonement for their misdeeds. By all reports, KOC only talked to one team when he called up NJ.

That’s my narrative, at least.

You guys are disrespecting Jerry Sloan and that's unacceptable. Deron Williams was unprofessional end of story. It is a damn shame Sloan had to leave the way he did. That should go down as one of the worst Jazz moves in history because it is unlike how we usually work and treat people.

It wasn't Deron's behavior that caused Sloan to quit, but KOC handcuffing his ability to deal with Deron's insubordination. I can't imagine Sloan ever saying "please" to any player he coached; I guess he couldn't either, so he quit.
