The dunk at 3:40 sure came out of nowhere. Actually gives me hope that he might be closer to 6'3 - 6'4". Not many euros at 6'2" or less are dunking like that and Neto has never been accused of being a jump out of the gym type.
 
Can we put an end to the Raul is 6'4" talk, at least on this site?

The only people that think he's 6-4 are those who do a quick Google search and happen to find this mistake on the right margin of the search page.

I have no idea where this error originated, but all sources that ought to be authoritative have him at 6-1 or 6-2. DX has him at 6-0.5 without shoes (only 0.75 inches taller than Trey) which would have him approaching 6-2 with the standard 1.25" increase for shoes. All the Euro site have him at 184 or 185 cm, which is almost precisely DX's without shoes measurement.

Nobody on the Jazz has ever talked about him having good size for a point guard. All I've ever heard is he's somewhat small and quick.

The eyeball test has never led me to believe that this is an above average-height PG. And team photos, if you go look at them, seem to show he's right at the same height as the other 6-1, 6-2 listed players on his team.

You're preaching to the choir as you essentially just quoted a post of mine from a few weeks ago. Having said that, if he can get up like that at 6'2" his athletic ability is underrated.

Yes, I agree that people not expecting 6-2 "Euros" to dunk is the more likely explanation.

His max vert at Eurocamp's measured out at 30'', basically what your average athlete, who weighs around 180 lbs and is in good shape, can do.

Agree.

Actually, the biggest thing I got from this video is that whoever compiled it has a relatively narrow definition of defense (managing to contest shots somewhat, even after having been buried on the screen). It would be nice to see his defense based on a broader conception of good defense.
 
I was surprised by the timing of bringing Neto over as we already had (an at the time healthy) Exum, Burke, & Cotton, but the timing turned out to be perfect. If the FO decides not to bring in another PG, I wouldn't be surprised if Neto eventually becomes the starter. As Exum proved last season, all that the starting unit really needs out of it's PG is someone who looks to pass first, won't force his own shot, is able to hit an open 3, & plays good defense. Out of our current (healthy) PG's, Neto appears to be the best candidate to start. I still believe that the FO views Exum as it's PG of the future, but if Neto is able to adjust to the speed of the NBA, it may not be necessary for the team to acquire a stop-gap until Exum returns.
 
it's pretty striking how crappy the defense is in Europe looking at some of this stuff. They can be very crafty offensively but a little lame defensively compared to the NBA. Really curious to see what he does this season, whether his court vision and smarts enable him to be effective or whether he's just a Euro Trey.

Euro Trey? They are nothing alike. Pure playmaker vs chucker.

I know it's Euroball, but on offense and driving the ball, Neto reminds me a lot of Tony Parker. He's got the floaters/midrange in his game... and seems to Euro-step around the bigs fairly easily and very confidently.

I say this because I've stood a couple of feet away from each one of them in interview situations, and I am pretty sure none of them are taller me. And thanks to getting shorter — and fatter — with advanced age — and bad eating habits — I barely stand 6 feet tall anymore. Which, according to the height/weight chart in the doctor's office, means I'm now 85 pounds overweight instead of just 70, unfortunately."
