What's new

Raul Neto : new spectacular talent

We will not be pursuing wins next season anyway. And Tinsley will be perfectly fine with four 6 minute stretches for two months or so leaving 20-25 minutes to Burke against both starters and bench players. If that's too much for either of them we have Burks and 3rd PG to take 5-8 minutes running point. I see no reason to bring any veteran PG apart from Tinsley.
Jazz won't do that. You always have to plan for injuries. Burke misses games and then you're running the team with Tinsley, Neto and Burks? Not gonna happen.

If both Burke and Neto were here as rookies, the door could be open for an unnecessary pg controversy. Give Burke this season to win the team over and bring Neto in down the line. No need for both to be here right away.
If Burke can't handle a little competition for the starting job, then I don't want him here. Think he thrives on this. If a little competition is too much or going to hurt Burke's confidence, then he isn't the player we thought he was anyway.

C'mon. Favors can get injured and you end up with rotation of Kanter, Evans and Gobert? Let's sign Millsap tomorrow then!

With all due respect Tjf, that's not the issue. Trey is a gamer. He won't back down to competititon from a second round rookie, but you want to put this kid in the best posititon to succeed. You want the team to buy into Trey as thier undisputed pg and leader. Who knows if Neto would buy into this from day one. Who knows if Kantor wouldn't have some foriegn bias from day one. Etc. It's important to have the least amount of distractions while Trey is establishing himself as they guy. Give him this year to do that and bring in Neto down the road. There is no harm in that approach but there is much to gain.

Yeah but you're then motivated by FEAR - which to me is the wrong motivation IMO.

We should be motivated by LOVE. In this case, hopefully Burke is motivate to win/improve because of his love for his teammates, love for his coaches, love for his family and ultimately love for the Utah Jazz franchise.

I would rather he wants to do that, than motivated by the fact that there is another guy "gunning" for your job.

Big difference.

Don't forget: Fear leads to Anger, Anger leads to Hate, Hate leads to SUFFERING.

You really are the ultimate troll.

So we need to coddle him. It didn't hurt RG3 when the Skins drafted Kirk Cousins.

If I recall from Derons rookie year, he got benched because of lackluster play, after his benching, and being put back in the starting lineup, he finally looked like a third pick in the draft. He even stated that even though he was upset about being benched, he was better for it and appreciated Sloan for how he helped him.

I don't want Burke getting the same attitude that he is just entitled to be the starter. This is how you teach commitment and hard work.

Your concern over someone like Kanter favoring someone else is rediculus.

Kanter, like any other player, is going to favor who gives him the ball in the best position. It's really not that difficult.

This is so wrong on so many levels.

Fear is the great equalizer. It separates winners from losers. I'll use the good book against you. The bible teaches us to fear god. It's how god separates his chosen from the rest. He wants to test us to se if we will conform to his will. When we do we become more like him, and we reap the rewards.

We will either overcome fear or it overcomes us. Love is what comes when we put in the time and hard work as a result of overcoming our fears. Hard work and determination comes from fear. Love is the reward.

Also remember Rocky's fear talk to his son in Rocky 4

This is what happens whith a weak minded person who wants everything handed to him. If this is Burke then get him out, but as we know Burke has had to work for everything not being highly recruited. He's overcome his fears at every level this is his final test. His fear will either push him to greatness or outer darkness. There can be no other way.

Funny how I was thinking of these guys while posting and in no way do they compare. You'll remember that RG3 was one of the highest rated QBs ever drafted. Some said the second highest since Peyton Manning (Andrew Luck was the top rated since Manning). There was no doubt from teamates or coaches who the face of the franchise was to be. Trey Burke has less similarities to RG3 than to Tim Tebow. Like Tebow, Burke was a great college player and is a great leader. Unfortunately like Tebow, Trey lacks elite athleticism and suffers from a perhaps an achilles heel. In Tim's case it was he couldn't pass. In Trey's case it may be his size and ability or lack thereof to defend in isolation. We'll see later on that.

Deron appreciated Jerry??? That's a new one.

Burke's attitude is miles ahead of Deron's, then and now. This will no be a concern.

Sorry, but you're naive to think that that is ridiculous.
