You guys are all remembering kobes first year wrong. He sucked for a while. He didn't score twenty points until like the 25th game. He averaged 7 ppg for his rookie season and played only 16 minutes a game. Dante is shooting poorly, but as far as the first part of the season goes, his rookie campaign is not far off from kobes. That is not saying a lot though.

Just look at the top 7 picks:
Iverson, Camby, Abdur-Rahim, Marbury, Allen, Antoine Walker, Lorenzen Wright. And then later on Kobe, Stojakovic, Nash, J. O'Neal, Ilgauskas.
The Jazz? They took (and traded) the immortal Martin Muursepp a pick after the Lakers selected Derek Fisher. Kind of like taking Burks a pick after GSW selects Klay Thompson. Well not really, Alec is at least a pretty good player. Of course, true to their nature, Jazz found a pretty good player in the 2nd round (Shandon Anderson).

Don't forget Trey at #9 (that is correct, right?). He's already halfway to Kobe-land as he has the high shot total/low percentage down to an art form. All he needs is the refs to give him 16 FT's/per game and he'll be there!
On the other hand, if "our future star" improves his numbers going forward this season, he will compare favorably to players like Sebastian Telfair and Shaun Livingston.
