;I think that it is clever that someone came up with the idea to be able to give someone "REP" points for post that they believe are clever. But, it is dumb that someone can get negative "REP"d. If you don't like someone else's post that is when you counter with your own argument or just move on in life. I got most of my negative "REP" from posting on political threads. Which just like in real life when it comes to having a "GROWN UP Conversation" (you know what I'm saying Fox News losers) in politics about politics when people don't agree things get petty. Well, all that being said things that really should get negative "Rep" in my book racism, bigots, and using inappropriate language. I posted on the ESPN page under the names "Memo4Presidente", and "Commander and Chief Okur" and there other posters didn't like my antiloozer posts. I thought here I would be able to have some better conversations. There are some posters who are funny and witty like Troutbum but don't have anything to say besides a one liner in every thread.

I rarely neg rep and almost never is political threads. There are so many opinions out there that it is hard to slam someone for disagreeing with me. Argue sure, but the whole "your a moran" reps show the maturity level of those posters.

Actually my neg reps are split just about evenly between the "your a moran" type comments and "you don't know what you are talking about" comments. It is from people afraid to put their opinion out there in the public sphere to be scrutinized. Cowards, if you will.

If you have zero or negative rep power already (the dot below your name is red or gray) then a rep from you, pos or neg, gives (and takes away) nothing and it shows up as gray on your list. If you have positive rep power then when you pos rep someone their rep total (top line of the settings screen) goes up by that amount. If I pos repped you, you would get 11 added to that total and it would show up as green on your list. If I neg repped you it would have the opposite effect, you would get 11 subtracted from that total and the rep would have a red dot next to it.

There is some complex formula, I think involving the CPI, lunar phases, horse-racing odds, and dancing naked around burning marijuana plants by the light of a waning gibous moon, to determine what your actual score and rank are.

I believe you only get subtracted half of the amount rep power of the neg rep. Unless of course somebody else signed it from Franklin. Considering he said he neg repped me in the thread I believe it was him and I got -2 instead of the -4 power he had at that time.
