PG screwed the Pacers by
1. Going public
2. Stating he will go to Lakers when he is a UFA
3. This forced trade for PG for almost nothing
Objectively speaking the only thing I think GH did wrong. And it was bad. Was not owning the leak on the 4th. Obviously none of us really know but it seems he wasted 5 hours for all
I don't have an issue with this post. It's pretty much true, other than I think he knew for much longer than those 5 hours and I think others knew as well.
I do think it also important to allow fans to "grieve" in whatever ways they want to. There is enough reason to be sad or mad about the whole situation. When you invest so much of your thoughts, time, and money into something or someone, it hurts to see them leave no matter the reason. It is personal. Don't try to pretend fans aren't as fully invested in this as players, family, front offices, owners, etc. It may not be their family or how they make a living, but there is a definite investment there in teams and people going on.
Bottom line, it's ok for fans to be angry about him leaving, and the way it went down. It's ok for Hayward to leave. Are there better ways to cope, probably. So what.
I'm not going to say PG's way was better or worse. It could be worse. Better or worse just depends on the lens you are looking through, and your angle on the situations. Neither take is wrong most likely.
My last point is, PG forced a trade for almost nothing. Hayward walked, for absolutely nothing. The Pacers got something out of the deal. The Jazz got Hayward's last year, then zippo. Both suck.
