Now, if we can just get Jefferson passing out of the post a bit more...

Now he has shooters to pass to, maybe he will. Or maybe with shooters that have to be covered, he will be going one-on-one in the post instead of one-on-many and won't have to pass. Maybe he'll get more assists, maybe he'll score more. Maybe with other players on the team who can score he won't get the ball as much and both stats will drop. There's lots of ways this can play out.

Reasons:
I would prefer the Jazz to start Randy Foye and Marvin Williams at the two wing spots, while Burks and Hayward would come off the bench behind them. If Jefferson and Favors are going to be our two starting low post players, I would prefer having three players on the wing (Mo, Randy, and Marvin) who specialize in perimeter shooting. They would also give us a veteran-laden starting lineup to counter a young, athletic, and talented bench (Tinsley, Burks, Hayward, Millsap, and Kanter). I also really like Hayward off the bench. When he came off the bench last year, he played much better. He, Millsap, and Burks would provide the scoring for the second unit while Tinsley directs the offense with Kanter down low providing defense and rebounding. The Jazz legitimately could be the deepest team in the league this coming season. Even deeper than San Antonio.

Love the hell out of this signing if Foye is our backup PG.
Hate the hell out of this signing if Foye steals Burks' and Haywards' minutes too much.

Thing is, we needed a 3 more than a 2 if any wing.
Our backup PG situation is just awful. If Mo Will sucks at starting PG, then Foye is there.

Do they hope to re-sign him? This is completely the opposite of what is going on with Dwight. Teams want a long term deal with him, and in the case of the Lakers trade that never happened, teams wanted a long term deal with Bynum. What do the Jazz do? They sign a player to a one year deal. Backwards to the rest of the league. Do the Jazz think that they can sway him into a reasonable multi year contract because of what a great young core we have? Or is this really a one year rental? (don't mind me, just rambling.)

Good choice for a backup PG if you coach him to focus on being a pass-first, nailing 3's when open. But Weezur is right, Jazz needs taller athletic wingman right now. They also need solid pass-first PG's but Foye clearly does not cover that.

I do not know how I feel about this pickup. Is it another late veteran move to take away playing time from our young guys? or is it a smart move to sure up backup role for a pending trade? I like Foye and think he is a decent backup/spark off the bench but if he is our starting SG I will be pissed because I think either Hayward or Burks should get the nod.

2013 Jazz became a balanced team both with youngsters and veterans, and deep. We worked our weakest link, 3 point shooting, in both the draft and free agency. I believe we can exceed my earliest prediction of 48 wins, and pass 50 mark.

Good God if Foye was the starting SG I think I'd puke out my liver.

This is a good move only in the fact that the 2/3 was very thin with the loss of Bell, Howard and Miles and they needed a veteran.

I'd combo him at the 1/2 for about 18mpg - anything more than that is a problem.
