Ricky Rubio will break out this season

That means at least 56 wins for the season. I’m down with that.
Seems high but UTA looks like the #3 in West now as Kawhi has just left SAS for TOR. And despite having a quality roster MIN has huge issues: coaching, defense, lack of chemistry. Butler situation.. And I'm not sure if HOU will be as good as last year and GSW will try hard in RS.
Not saying UTA will shoot for #1 but they can win 57-58 games this season. At average #3 wins 55-56 anyway (last season was an outlier) Remember UTA play really well on the road, I expect them to be #1 road team and #1 defense.

Steve Nash left Dallas and became a star. Jermaine O’Neal left Portland and became a star.

Maybe all Rubio needed to do was leave Min. to realize his potential. God I hope so.

He already broke out bro
I was just going to say the same. I was pretty hard on Ricky his first month+. The guy looked like absolute trash. His passing was absolutely horrible. I'm not sure what the hell he was doing some games as even the simplest passes resulted in turnovers. But then something clicked. I think he stopped trying to be "cute" with his game and settled in to playing Quin's system. He accepted not being the playmaker every time down the court and gave up on trying to average 8-9 assists.

Hill had a career year 2 years ago with the Jazz. Rubio had a career year last season, IMO (at least shooting-wise). Consistency from Day 1 will be the measuring stick this season. But break-out? I agree with UtahJazz32; he already did that last year.

Something else to note. Going back over the last few years of Ricky's career, he was never as consistent from three during any of his career season. He had a month here and there where he shot above 35% from beyond the arc, but never more than a month during a season. Last season, he had 5 such months (October, January thru April). Granted, he went sub par on his percentages in the playoffs, but when you are playing good teams ever night, your stats will take a hit. But he was still phenomenal overall during the OKC series because he did everything else needed to help and he started living in Westbrook's head rent free.

I think Ricky made the necessary connections for everything to click. He'll be fine next year.

Butler will be traded. It's only a matter of time and best offer. After January 15, Utah could offer some combination of Dante, Alec, Allen, draft picks, other expendable contracts. I think there is enough there to entice Minny without disrupting the foundation.

I am captain of the "No Butler on the Jazz under any circumstances" boat. I agree he will destroy the Timberpups, and I smile at that, but afterwards let him go to Boston or Washington to wreak havoc on those franchises for a while.

As for Ricky....he seems to be in a happy place in life, and I hope that translates to success on the court this season. He could also regress to the mean. It is storylines like this that hook my interest for the upcoming season.

Almost the entire team is capable of taking a step forward.

Rubio and Favors have been in the league forever. Easy to forget they are only 26 and 27.

The only ones I don't expect to really improve are Thabo, Ingles and Udoh. The rest of the players it is a reasonable assumption to see some improvement.

He's done this hot second half thing before.

That's one way to look at it.

Another, is that he actually broke out his last year in Minny, and then had to adjust to a completely new system with all new teammates. Once the adjustment period was over, he continued playing like he did when he broke out. I expect a full year of playing at that level now, providing he can stay healthy.

I agree. The fact Rubio has acknowledged his mindset has changed since coming to Utah makes me beleive we will see him reach yet another level this season.

My prediction is he puts up:
19/5/5/1.5 while shooting 39% from 3. His TOs will also reduce and his chenistry with Rudy will increase significantly. He will be in discussion for Allstar and 3rd team All-NBA.
This is similar to my prediction. Twitter freaked out when I said he'd be an all star

I hope Rubio breaks out and Donte is forced into playing better and he then challenges Rubio for minutes. That would be an ideal situation
