expound
i.e. Hayward, and his strengths, weaknesses, and potential, are a KNOWN (more or less) entity. Some future draft pick who would be the BPA is an UNKNOWN entity, ergo he may be better, worse, or just the same as Hayward down the road. But when assessing risk, often the devil you know (Hayward, and all his wonders and foibles) is better than the devil you don't (some faceless nameless future BPA of questionable quality). Consequently, in the eyes of many, keeping a player like Hayward would be preferable to gambling you can pick his replacement down the road. This becomes less of an issue the worse the player performs or the lower his stock has become or directly with the availability of a ready replacement.
No I am a fan of Rondo coming here. I was referring to your comment about the BPA in upcoming drafts.
No, I think it's the other way around. The 10% on this issue (me specifically) just make a lot more noise.
(and it does)
Okay ... there's like no chance Rondo ends up here .. I think it would be a homerun, best player .. others don't like the idea .. he's not coming so it doesn't matter.
What did you hear/read that makes you so certain this won't happen? Cause I actually like the idea of Rondo on the Jazz![]()
Just a hunch. If a story emerges that gives legs, I'll call him and see what he thinks .. but not unless there's a story.
Rajon Rondo sucks. If he ended up here, I give it a month before the pitchforks come out.
I'd much rather have Darren Collison.I happen to agree about the pitchforks, but he doesn't suck. I would probably agree that he's somewhat overrated and there's a reason why Boston is shopping him. Having said that, I'm wondering where you rate him among PGs. He can't shoot worth a damn, but I doubt Utah would have a chance at a better PG anytime soon. Maybe years.
If Utah had a chance at landing him without getting robbed, I think they'd have to take a serious look at it. That's just it, though. I think there's zero chance of getting him without overpaying.
Then, we draft a PG.
Then, we draft a PG. Truly, drafting is the (only) way to go with this small market team.
I'm in. Rondo is awesome and has not hit his peak. This is one of the few exceptions I could think of to my general reluctance to part with assets right now. Not much I wouldn't give up for him. They can't have Hayward, Burks, Favors or Kanter but just about anything else is game. I would probably not want to give up Sap either.
I would love to see this team's effort with this guy at the wheel. Elite vet PG to run the show and see how fast we get good.
