Ya I think keyonte is going to have a huge breakout year. No hopium involved through since I have never really been a big keyonte guy.Feel like the real hopium on this list is Keyonte at 2
Im utterly confused lmaoYa I think keyonte is going to have a huge breakout year. No hopium involved through since I have never really been a big keyonte guy.
What is confusing you specifically?Im utterly confused lmao
That you arent a Keyonte guy but somehow rank him above our #5 overall pick that everyone is hyped on.What is confusing you specifically?
So, if he breaks out he will become a new Sexton but with worse shooting efficiency, worse dribbling and worse defense? And then he will probably want to be paid more than Sexton?Ya I think keyonte is going to have a huge breakout year. No hopium involved through since I have never really been a big keyonte guy.
I think keyonte has all the tools. I have seen him play a ton the last 2 years.
He has a great looking shot, he is a great passer, great ball handler, is great at drawing fouls, is extremely confident, has good size and great athleticism.
Imo the things that have been his biggest issues the last 2 years are his mental immaturity and that the jazz have been trying to lose and held onto to vets that weren't doing him any favors.
I think that this season the jazz are going to try to win on the backs of the young guys. I think this is good for keyonte mentally. I also think that guys usually mature as they age and that immaturity has been his biggest negative.
Ya I think that keyonte experience and age make him better than Ace. I have seen keyonte look amazing in NBA games but haven't with Ace yet. That you arent a Keyonte guy but somehow rank him above our #5 overall pick that everyone is hyped on.
Good post.I am not going to weigh in on Keyonte's mental state and whether he is overly immature or not, you're probably right in your assessment but I don't know how to judge those things. What I will say is that he doesn't get to the rim enough and I don't know if he has the skillset to ever get to the rim at a good rate. This puts him in the jumpshooter category of player; His shot looks good but is inconsistent. He is essentially a streaky jumpshooter type leaning more inefficient than efficient. If we add to the fact that he ranks worst in the league according to Defensive EPM, the picture isn't good.
The efficiency is somewhat salvaged by his skill in foul drawing and the number of 3s he takes. But those same things also make his scoring incredibly "swingy" game to game. There are games he makes all his 3s, draws fouls, and scores 30. Then there are many more games where his 3 shot isn't falling, he doesn't get the calls, and he is 2/16 and the worst defender on the floor. It's hard to be more consistent with his shot diet because 3 point shooting is just a naturally streaky shot and fouls are ref dependent. It also makes the team winning or losing beholden to whether Keyonte is having a good night or not.
It's just tough and I don't know if there is a better path for Keyonte other than "make more of your shots". It's also worrying that his shot looks as good as it does because I don't know what to tweak to make his shots more consistent, his form looks great. How do you improve your shot if the shooting form already looks great? I don't know.
I will reserve my final judgement on him until I see him fully this season for a good stretch of games. He seems to have a great attitude and wants to do the right thing so I am hoping he can surpass my low opinion of his game and break out year 3.
Where did you get this impression from? Do you mean "wants to do the right thing" on everything but defense? Because I am sure his coaches tried to play better defense but he is very obviously ignoring them. He did not become entrenched as one of the worst NBA defenders due to his physical limitations: he is there entirely by choice.. He's also the single most skilled player the Jazz have on the rosterAlso, on Flip: He's just not a 5--he has the same standing reach (8'11'') as Ace and Hendricks.
