Roster Building From Here - FA and Summer of 2023

Possibly. Could also be that Hardy liked conley, sexton, and NAW all better. Maybe next year Hardy will like Sexton, george/wallace and Dunn better and THT is back to 3rd or 4th stringin it again.
Now, if he opts out and the jazz are the one to sign him to a new contract then that would bode well for his spot in the rotation. But I dont think playing THT a bunch after trading away conley and naw and having clarkson and sexton hurt really tells us much about how the jazz feel about him.
Maybe try reading what Hardy has said

It feels like now that we have plenty of cap space, now we are finally nailing the fringe contracts. We really could have used all of these useful players on minimum deals back when we were competing.

Just for fun, what would a Trae package from Utah look like:

Sexton/Ochai would headline the deal as players.

Probably add in Olynyk or THT for salary matching.

Would probably need 3 picks to get the deal done: Minny's pick this year, Cavs pick in 2025, and Lakers 2027 pick?

They can send us picks.

Just kidding, I don’t want him. At all. Even if they sent us picks.

Trae is an ***....but he is a really great player. Some team will break the bank for him, I don't think we will be that team. It will be interesting to see which direction they go to and how Dejounte is feeling about staying in ATL long term.

Great is not the word I would use at this point. I think he was on track to be elite early on. Now not so much. His "tactics" have failed the Hawks this season. I do agree some other team will give him a job and he will be the same as he is now for whomever that is. He is clearly not ever going to be playable in the playoffs with that awful defense. I mean thats why they went and got Murray.
I have noticed he seems to not get the calls he got early on in his short career, and it kind of has taken him out of the all star level going forward. Maybe it was because he was always doing that thing they now call the Harden rule?
Either way, at that contract, I wouldn't touch him and I doubt anyone will really without big incentives going to the team that trades for him. I doubt ATL gets what they want for him anyway.
That org still thinks that bum Collins that they have been openly trying to shop for 3 seasons is worth more than he is.

Thats pretty much the opposite of what anyone should give up for a guy who is basically the main reason they can't win in the playoffs.
I doubt DA would not have any interest, but the amount he would send, would be more like s/t JC, THT, maybe Simone and 15 from the Wolves for Trae and 13.
Hawks could probably get more than that despite his flaws being massive despite his elite playmaking ability. I think the league has taken notice and is growing tired of his antics.

Just going to keep saying it so I can manifest it. Quickley is the guy we need to open the warchest for. Hopefully the Knicks get stingy in contract negotiations next fall. It might not have Harden -> HOU impact, but he will be an all star when he is a starter.

In 21 games as a starter this season he average 23/5/5 with 60% TS while being one of the best perimeter defenders in the league.
