Round 1 Game 2 Utah Jazz at L.A. Clippers 8:30pm MDT

Game hasn't even started and we are talking about it being rigged. This thread will be torture every time any whistle is blown.

So just some thoughts here:

*The Jazz already got what they wanted out of LA - at minimum, a split - and so the stakes for this game are, on the surface, lower.

*That said, I personally believe that following Rudy's injury, this game is critically important. If the Jazz can pull off a second victory in LA tonight, they're almost certainly headed for the second round. While they're still at a slight advantage even if they lose, a victory for LA will motivate them, change some of the narrative and dynamics, and make it even harder for the Jazz to pull off two victories back in Utah, especially if Gobert hasn't recovered.

*Win tonight, our chances of heading to the second round is 95%. Lose tonight, my sense is that number drops to 40-50%, depending on Rudy's health.

*Tonight will be our best look into just how brilliant Quin Snyder is. He's being heavily lauded for the no-timeout call, but it's going to be this game where we truly see his acumen. There is no doubt that the Clippers have spent the past two days preparing, crafting a new gameplan for the Jazz without Rudy, and adjusting their tactics. I anticipate that Quin will have, like a chess player, anticipated what these adjustments will be and will have preemptively made adjustments of his own based on his theory of what Rivers is going to throw out there.

*National media is still heavily portraying the Jazz as the underdogs. This is the opportunity to silence that narrative; lose by double digits, however, and the story will be about the rise of the Clippers against adversity, which doesn't bode well for us to take advantage of their team-wide mental-emotional fragility.

*If our guys are locked in, I think we're going to win, but it's going to take insane effort, brilliant coaching, and a dash of luck for our shooters.

New reporting from Jody confirming my hunches - this game is incredibly important and the coaches are playing chess moves:

Feels kinda like Jeff Whithey is the forgotten man. Wonder how many minutes he's gonna play this game.

He's gonna have to give some strong minutes to help Favors out. He plays well off the bench it will make a huge difference. Possibly the difference in the game.

Lordy, way too early to start reading this thread; still two hours to tip-off. Maybe I can find something interesting on Netflix.

Yeah I wondered if they should have flew back to Salt Lake for the break. Eat home cooked meals, sleep in your own bed, and then fly back to LA refreshed.

I can't really see the upside of hanging around in LA for 2 whole days.
What is refreshing about flying and changing time zones?

The Clippers suffer from some post season problems that they have never corrected. 2-6 their last 8 playoff games and Crawford and Reddick have shot under 30% from 3 over their last 10 playoff games. Griffin disappears in the 4th, has all season.

Jordan is static all game and CP3 is awesome. But that's it. Doc has failed to solve their problems. That won't be fixed tonight. Snyder has him out matched and Jazz win by 6.

Go into Utah 2-0

Win by six on the road without Rudy and it could be a sweep, especially if Rudy comes back.

Whoa there Alex Jones, put down the glass of conspiracy theory punch for a while. Lets just step back and consider. Why would Adam Silver want to appease the billionaire owner of the Clippers? And there is no reason for the NBA to draw out this series to let Golden State (and Kevin Durrant) rest. Nor is there any incentive for the NBA to have a game 5 in LA. Nor a reason to create a series tie with Rudy returning storylines. Nope, the NBA has no incentive to mess with the outcomes of games. The league is legit.

Have you not seen him officiate a game? He clearly has bias towards teams. Hell Google him.

let them have kane fitzgerald.
heck get 3 more refs on the side of the clippers.
5 players + 6 refs! jazz willw in!

even got a better idea! lets allow clippers to have 7 players on the court and 6 officials on their side and then the game is even. then the game becomes a 1 point toss uP!

stop complaining about 1 measly official
