Rudy Gay - Release on the 5 year waiver

I would release Rudy Gay on the 5 year prorated waiver. His salary would only put 1.8 on the salary cap for the next 5 years. It would free the team up for more options if we end up trading Rudy.

Rudy Gay has trade value. Besides, the issue wasn't Rudy Gay so much as Quin Gay. Yeah, I know he didn't play that well but nor did most players in their first year under Quin. No point in stretching a player who has value in the league and could fit well under a different coach.

What is the deadline on that waiver? Maybe give him a couple of months under the new coach to see if he's truly done. He will be 36 this coming season and probably won't live up to his contract. I'd say give him a shot still but don't hold your breath on it
