What's new

Rudy Gay

WHY? Do you see how good Memphis is doing? Why would they dump Mayo, who is still young and has major potential for that? A 12th pick is a huge gamble. Arthur is still young, and is far more athletic than Millsap. That is trading their core. You're out of your protocol.
You're over-valuing them. IF Arthur is more athletic than Millsap, what else does he do better than him? That's rhetorical, there isn't anything. AND the Grizzlies were in trade talks involving OJ Mayo from just about the tip-off of the season to past the trade deadline where he WAS traded for Josh McRoberts (and maybe a pick) but it got done too late and couldn't be approved. That's beside that Mayo isn't athletic at all, isn't long, strong, and hasn't gotten any better since his rookie year (he's actually gotten worse).

OJ Mayo and Darrell Arthur are nice players, but they are not the Grizzlies core.

Mayo isn't THAT athletic, but he is smooth. Not athletic. But smooth. I will tell you watching him in high school break down a bunch of inbred white West Virginians, he looked awfully athletic. I think any guy with NBA potential could look "athletic" though.

But I think if Memphis looks at this now, the situation they are in, they wouldnt trade him for Josh McRoberts. He has been quite valuable to Memphis that I don't think they are going to give up on him now. I just don't see the Grizzlies trading a strong bench for a bunch of 30 year old guys and an undersized Power Forward. Why would they risk going back to square one?

The most Mayos played was 29 minutes and he hasn't been that great during the playoffs. Plus he's an undersized sg. If Memphis wanted to make it Sam Young or X Henry instead of Mayo, I think Utah would be getting a better deal. And yes Gay is overpaid but he's young and he would make a perfect addition next to Hayward and Favors. I just like his overall complete game. He's a younger Danny Granger with more upside.

Because Millsap is A LOT better than Arthur and Mayo. Combined.

P.S. It's absolutely dumb-founding to me that the general opinion of Millsap on this site can go from talking like he's the second coming of Malone to talking about him like he's nothing more than Udonis Haslem in a down year. ****ing come on. Millsap's not perfect but he's a damn good player and has come further than anybody has in the league from where he started and he started pretty good as well. He's not going to grow 5 inches one day but height and size is not the only thing that matters in basketball.

You're right. Thats why the Jazz are in the 2nd round of the playoffs 1-0 against OKC. Millsap sure is that unleashed beast that lead Utah.

Millsap is just an undersized PF, but OJ Mayo - despite sucking for the entire year and getting traded for garbage - is SMOOOOOOOTH athletic. Man, he was so good in high school in West Virginia, he's better than Paul Millsap. Forget that Mayo is a 6' 4" SG with no hops, no arms, and has to dope to even have barely requisite strength for his position. OJ Mayo, man, coming off the bench and shooting 40% on the year and having bad shot selection is totally their core. What would they do without him? Besides win when he plays less. Nothing says "core" more than a guy that's getting by more by what he was supposed to be/where he was drafted than anything he actually brings to the table.

Honest question, have you watched OJ Mayo this year? Did you watch him in the game against OKC? Can you honestly say he did anything but help the Thunder? If you answer yes to all of those questions, you should have your ability to express your opinion revoked.

OJ "THE CORE" MAYO:

Better than Blake Griffin because the Grizzlies are in the playoffs.

OJ "Looked good in High School" Mayo:

Better than Steve Nash because the Grizzlies are in the playoffs.

Dude, Mayo has a 41 inch vertical. Have you watched Mayo this year?

Yeah, I've been watching Mayo and he is not anything special. The only thing special about OJ Mayo, is, that he was traded for Kevin Love! The man is a 6ft3.25inch SG. That shots a poor %, 40% from the field, 76 % from the ft, and 36 % from the 3 point line. Them there our Raja Bell numbers!

And if Mayo is so good, why doesn't he play 30+ minutes anymore? Last season, he averaged, something like 38 minutes and Memphis didn't make the playoffs. This season, he averages 25 minutes and they make the playoff. Wierd, huh? Plus, it doesn't matter, if he has a 41 inch vertical. Were did that get Gerald Green....Overseas!

Jimmer probably has a decent vertical too. There's more to athleticism than jumping the highest you probably ever have in your life with a running start in a vacuum situation.
