What's new

Rudy Gay

I don't think it's any mystery that the Grizz drastically improved after he became injured...

Denver became a lot better after unloading Melo.

While NY became worse.

Lets stop trying to get soft cancerous over paid prima donas, shall we?

As Karl would say, "Not no, but HELL no." if for no other reason than that if the Grizzlies wanted to trade those players, they think they can get more than what they're getting from the Jazz on the open market. Besides, isn't Mayo an RFA this offseason anyway?

Lol, all reped out. I think Mayo has 1 more year until hes a RFA. And I think we might be surprised, what Memphis is after. Remember Josh Mcroberts for OJ Mayo :)

I would want him if he wasn't on a max contract. He is a great player, but he isnt quite on that super-star or efficient scorer level that garners a max contract.

So you don't think a Millsap, Bell, Okur, plus 12th pick for Mayo, Gay, Arthur would get it done?

WHY? Do you see how good Memphis is doing? Why would they dump Mayo, who is still young and has major potential for that? A 12th pick is a huge gamble. Arthur is still young, and is far more athletic than Millsap. That is trading their core. You're out of your protocol.

You're over-valuing them. IF Arthur is more athletic than Millsap, what else does he do better than him? That's rhetorical, there isn't anything. AND the Grizzlies were in trade talks involving OJ Mayo from just about the tip-off of the season to past the trade deadline where he WAS traded for Josh McRoberts (and maybe a pick) but it got done too late and couldn't be approved. That's beside that Mayo isn't athletic at all, isn't long, strong, and hasn't gotten any better since his rookie year (he's actually gotten worse).

OJ Mayo and Darrell Arthur are nice players, but they are not the Grizzlies core.

Mayo isn't THAT athletic, but he is smooth. Not athletic. But smooth. I will tell you watching him in high school break down a bunch of inbred white West Virginians, he looked awfully athletic. I think any guy with NBA potential could look "athletic" though.

But I think if Memphis looks at this now, the situation they are in, they wouldnt trade him for Josh McRoberts. He has been quite valuable to Memphis that I don't think they are going to give up on him now. I just don't see the Grizzlies trading a strong bench for a bunch of 30 year old guys and an undersized Power Forward. Why would they risk going back to square one?

The most Mayos played was 29 minutes and he hasn't been that great during the playoffs. Plus he's an undersized sg. If Memphis wanted to make it Sam Young or X Henry instead of Mayo, I think Utah would be getting a better deal. And yes Gay is overpaid but he's young and he would make a perfect addition next to Hayward and Favors. I just like his overall complete game. He's a younger Danny Granger with more upside.
