Rudy Gobert's Instagram Message for Kobe and JazzFanz...

In the big picture, more people would probably care if France won the Olympics than if Utah won a NBA championship.

If they would have invited Oakley he would have been there. The point is real competitors dont turn down chances to compete against the best. I know if I where a NBA player, American or foreign, I would 100% play in the Olympics if invited.

Real competitors? Many all-time studs have turned it down. Give me a break.

I don't remember. Many don't. Most don't give a ****. The Olympics are an afterthought now.

you're wrong, but don't let that stop you from speaking for "most" people. You've forgotten = everybody has forgotten. Gotcha. The Olympics matters to Rudy, too.

Rudy should rest and then work on his offense. That's the bottom line.

Americans? Probably the ones who already competed multiple times in the Olympics games and know that they have fellow country men who are just as good to carry the torch. Completely different scenarios.

The amount of selfishness as a fan to chastise a player for wanting to play in the Olympics is ridiculous.

I see it as objective reasoning. Dude is obviously worn down and perhaps hurt. He needs rest. And to legitimately improve his game. Will his world shatter if he doesn't? No. He'll still get a solid 75M contract or thereabouts. But careers are finite and this summer is perhaps the most important he'll ever know in his developmental curve. If he's going to get better, it's not going to happen at 31 years old. It needs to happen now.

If he chooses not to, that's fine. It's his life. But he may very well end up just another Kirilenko. Another stellar defender who never improved his game one iota offensively and faded even on defense, who thinks he's looked upon as greater than he really was or will be remembered, and who overall, disappointed us with his end-game contribution to our team.

Yes, Americans, genius. Not in those scenarios.

He has plenty of time to rest between now and the start of the Olympics. You are acting like this one decision is going to destroy his career and are already setting up a scapegoat for him having a bad season.

I think they do nothing to help his development. Those weeks could be crucial otherwise imo.

I find it hard to believe they do nothing. It's still game time vs high level competition on a big stage.

What? Like 17 minutes a game? Give me a break. You know the Olympics are known as one big ****fest, right? They have bowls of condoms for the athletes. It's basically a two week party and the kid needs more than that.

You think so? Then maybe you've stumbled on the problem this team has, because I was very disappointed in Rudy's development this year. At the start of the season, I actually thought we had stolen one of the premier centers of the league with that 27th pick, but by the end of season I was wondering what it would take to get an upgrade.

Addictionary may have it right, the French NT drained him last summer. Frankly, if Gobert plays for France again this summer, then I hope DL bundles him in a trade for someone that can help the Jazz on BOTH ends of the floor.

Yeah, I said it.

Trading Rudy would be beyond stupid. Not miles, but light years.
