Rumor: Jazz want to - and can - acquire Milsap. May trade Favors in draft day deal.

Do it. Do it now.

Thats the thing is they can't. They would be trading away a solid PF for an unproven rookie, then hope to sign Milsap when FA starts, and possibly be left with Booker as the starting 4. And if they do trade, they should keep #12. Favors/Burke for #4 and maybe Calderon. Not a fan, but I do think DL knows what he's doing. If he does make a trade, I bet it ends up being a pretty good one.

You do not trade a mobile, athletic, improving 6'10" two-way player for a draft pick and a chance at a free agent.

I'm inclined to believer that while DL is intrigued by the possibility of structuring the roster to allow the flexibility to play small ball, that he is wise enough to realize that, while small ball appears to be a growing fad at the moment, it may or may not have staying power. The best comparison I have is the NFL in which analysts were forever talking about the trend toward mobile running quarterbacks (a la RGIII and Kapernick), but I think we're seeing that this trend lacked staying power. It would be foolish to discard a young, emerging star on a great contract to commit fully to a style of play that may just be a passing fad (at least in terms of the primary way teams play) and which hasn't yet been shown to work on a long-term basis.

This rumors is dog ****. Jennessey is still peeved we did not trade Favors for Wiggins. This fool, he thinks jazz turn that down not Cleveland.

Is he still fat and smoke pit friend? I remember he disappears for a while.

Much rather have a Milsap, Favors, Gobert front court. It isn't about size with small ball as much as it is players that can guard multiple positions and move with the lateral quickness of a small players. Move Hayward and the 12 for a top pick.

Burn your draft assets of you believe in the guy that much and sign a (slightly) younger free agent who fits the culture they're building. Jazz current roster is playoff worthy. Add Carroll and Porzingis and that's a really strong group to develop for the future.

Plus, if you miss on your draft pick, it doesn't cripple your team. Signing a +30 PF on a near max contract while the rest of the team is young and developing seems just as risky as putting all your hope in a draft pick. Don't compound one bad move (trading Favors) by making another (replacing him with Millsap.)

I don't buy this. The only way replacing Favors with Millsap makes sense is if we traded Favors/#12 for a young superstar who is under contract long-term & will help us win now. No way are we trading him for an unproven rookie. I learned a long time ago not to believe rumors about the Jazz until after it happens. No way would one of the most tight lipped franchises in all of sports would allow something of this magnitude to leak. My guess is it's just some reporter(s) looking for more clicks/traffic/publicity before the draft.

Favors is still a baby, and improved every year with us. We want Dfav to stay in Utah. Sap is beloved, but I dont think replacing him with Favors makes us better.

I haven't read this thread outside of the first page but come on. You guys can't seriously believe this. We're not rebuilding. We're needing to put the finishing touches on a framework that's supposed to compete. We're not looking to move established players for prospects.

We'll end the night with a backup big man.

Not saying I'm a fan of the deal. But I do wonder if Lindsey and Snyder think that Gobert/Favors can't co-exist. Although I think they can - and that Favors still has a couple of steps he can take, including outside shooting.

Seems like they co-existed very well for the last 30 games of the NBA season when the Jazz won 2/3s of their games.
