While I still definitely would love to draft Embiid, Wiggins, or Parker, Embiid might be a busted player waiting to happen or never develop relative to his stock, Wiggins might not have any real fire, and Parker might just be that physically limited and/or a chucker that doesn't play efficient and smart basketball. Conversely, what if Vonleh is Chris Bosh-ish? What if Marcus Smart is awesome? What if Dante Exum's skills translate to the NBA?
As much as we feel we know something about these players, the honest-to-goodness truth is we don't know how they're going to fare. We ****ing don't.
I don't know what to think right now. If a top-3 team is going to fleece the Jazz for the chance to draft a couple of spots higher? I don't know.
One of the best posts I've read on this site in months.
People keep saying we should definitely trade Burks and 5 for the opportunity to draft a star in Parker. Well, Burks was pretty damn good at 22 and might still become a star (at worst he is a very good SG as it currently stands - a proven commodity). The #5, whoever it is might become a star. Parker might be a bust. You might be trading two stars for a bust. You might be trading two stars for one star. Most likely you are trading two really good young players for somebody who will most likely become a really good young player (if you play the percentages, the chances Parker doesn't become a star FAR outweigh the chances he becomes one)
