RUSH Game Thread - Orlando @ Jazz - 12/3/15 7 PM MST

The game was a gallon of salt into the open Gobert wounds we all have. I didnt like the energy or focus in the 2nd half. It started out ok. We build a little lead, and then
started commiting a string of slopply turnovers. The Magic were sound on defense, and just waited for us to make a mistake.

We need a change. I was feeling optomistic before the game, now...not so much. We dont need to clean house. I just think we need to make a trade. We need some fresh
blood in here.

But if you listen to the post-game interviews, guarantee 9 times out of 10 Hayward/Burke/whoever will say something like "we needed to come out with more energy to start/close the game"

Postgame Hayward: "Didn't like the effort tonight"

Quin: "Wasn't the kind of effort to win a game like this"

Quin: "We didn't have the energy at the start of the game"

Quin: "I don't think we had that energy and focus at the start of the game and I don't think we had it in the 3rd quarter either."

I really don't agree with that assessment from Quinn about the start of the game -- Simply because of how hot Hayward was...

I can see why he said it, because he's hoping for a more collective effort and send a message to the starters that were slacking..

They scored 57 in the first half and 37 in the second half though.. Blaming the start almost seems like deflecting blame from how they closed the game in a malaise. This game was there for the taking - especially in the first half it seemed like Orlando was just going thru the motions.

So 6 minutes and 2 points for Aar Gordon? His shooting percentages are sub-par, as expected..

Is it safe to say he's worse than Julius Randle at this point?? who dropped 15 and 19 boards the other night and is a .7 rebounds per game away from averaging a double-double..

I had Vonleh higher, and I still don't hate that, he's still catching up to speed. The folks who had Randle above Aar Gordon were few and far between on this site though... Thought it was worth pointing out. @seattlejazzfan appears to be right.

Out side of Hayward he is absolutely right.

My biggest swish from that draft, however, will most likely prove to be Jabari, simply because my assessment of him was so far outside the general consensus. He's even fatter than I thought he would be this soon and hasn't made a three this year.

If the team isn't playing with effort a lot of that is on coach.

Magic picked up the D big time in the second half and we did not respond well. They were cutting us off, playing physical, forcing bad passes and turnovers.

The effort wasn't there on defense. They were getting wide open shots on every possession. The Jazz would've been down 20 if it weren't for Hayward.

I had high hopes for Hood this season as well, but instead he's shooting the ball like 2014 Trey Burke or 2013 Gordon Hayward. Very disappointed.
The fact that Hayward had a shooting bounce back the next year and Burke has seemed to bounce back this year in shooting. This bodes well for hood.

The hell. Coaches can't make a team play harder. The players have to chose to want to play hard. A coach can motivate till he's blue in the face, but ultimately its up to the players. Don't be an idiot, though I know that's asking too much from u

Agree with all of you that the energy was lacking. You could just sense that the Jazz didn't have the killer instinct to get it done last night.

Favors just looks low energy in general...slow to run up the court and looks out of shape in his play. He looked winded and was sweating profusely in the first half. Is he eating poorly between games or something? Makes me wish he had a little Karl Malone in him, because he could be one of the best in the league.

Hayward looked like he decided not to waste his effort in a losing cause and disappeared down the stretch. We need a leader and while he has been terrific, Hayward didn't take over like he should have.

Pretty sad how there didn't seem to be a lot of motivation overall in the last quarter to step up and give it 100% when the game was still on the line. Without Rudy and his chip on his shoulder we might become a underperforming team. This was the perfect chance to show that we can win without Rudy and the Jazz failed big time.

I cant believe when Hayward was hot how many possessions he didnt touch the ball. Or they tried to run plays for the other guys. Just ride the hot hand. Hayward should have had more points in the first quarter and half. Part of it is him being more aggressive, part of it is the teammates but a lot of it is the coaching.
