IMO, even the very best "6MOY" scoring/no defense types will struggle to get the full MLE. So if you're above that (i.e. Monk/Sexton) you have no value.

Yeah, but I do think Monk is, when he is on, a positive player and better than Sexton. His defense isn't as bad and he's become a good playmaker (a notch above Sexton imo). The main issue is that he has the Clarkson quality of being an inconsistent volume shooter.

But yeah, just overpaid and with a player option in his final year. I wonder what they would give up to just get off him. I doubt Utah is interested due to not wanting to clog the roster, but I would think someone would bite on it if they are offering a first round pick

I think you need to basically be borderline all star level to get past the full MLE level and get paid like starters. Nobody wants this archetype and it’s an extremely easy role to fill. I think Monk is pretty much the peak of this 6MOY/Borderline starter level, but that still likely only amounts to full MLE value and his salary is still above that.

Last report is that they’re not looking to trade him anymore. I’m guessing they tried to trade him for value but nothing was out there. Think they could move him with a first round pick but they don’t want to.

Keegan Murray could be considered a second draft guy but they’ve been very resistant to trading him. We need to deal with the Kings one way or another. Maybe that’s a Lauri mid season deal.

I thought he showed some flashes his rookie year. He's had some injury stuff that might have been holding him back. I'm not super interested, but mildly interested in giving him a flier.
