I haven't heard a single person say anything about taking away contraceptives.
The problem is that, because so many people view sex as this dirty thing that needs to be hidden and tucked away and never talked about, it suddenly becomes this giant issue when people wish to educate children on the subject.

This ain't about teaching the mechanics of sex and the reproductive system. It is about teaching a morality that is contrary to the parents, who have the responsibility for their children and have to deal with the consequences of a sexually active teen. It ain't like the teacher is gonna be there for the kid when the "safe" methods they taught fail to protect their students from disease or pregnancy, or the emotional fall out.

The parents and conservatives that think sex-ed should be talked about in school don't want sex talked about it schools, period. Regardless if it's a biological lesson or a personal health one.
