Free up a roster spot for what? They now have the depth where they don't need to cycle through Dleague guys just to find someone to fill 10 minutes in a backup role. No need to tinker with the bottom end of the roster. Its set. I'm comfortable with everyone on the roster right now in the role they are going to be expected to play.

I fail to grasp why any team would have a plan to keep Mack around long term. He seems just like an emergency pick up or a career back-up journeyman. He is very slow-footed and a subpar ball-handler for his position; his outside shot is iffy and his smarts - an he has some - barely compensate for those limitations. That's why he had such an underwhelming career, IMO.

I can't agree. He is fine back up PG maybe even top 15 back up? You can't be so mad just as you love it Neto. Brazil!

ThaPhunkPhenomenon, as I said before in this thread, I was not even particularly a fan of Neto's game. I even thought he would end up shooting like 32% for the year, but he surprised me a lot. As for your argument, someone who is "MAYBE a top 15 backup" on a 30-team league does or does not rank as a "career back-up journeyman" and as an "emergency pick up"? In other words, as a mediocre player? And I say that with a heavy heart. I think Mack has some Steve Nash in him - like in the way he goes into the paint - but just not enough of it.
Anyone they bring in to replace the fourth PG would probably be fourth or fifth at their position too. Except maybe at Center where I could see a possible upgrade over Pleiss or Withey. But still that would be your #3 C and your #5 big off the bench.

Development... Bolomboy, for example. Unless Hill or 'someone else' (not going to jinx THAT) gets injured, it won't matter whether Neto or Mack plays the #3PG... but it may determine who we can keep on in D-League or have on the bench for a few minutes of cleanup experience.

The 14th, 15th roster spots provide value for the next two or three seasons not the current season. I don't see tibor providing value now or in the future. Neto has future value because he's signed for so cheap and is a good third pg. I'd just like to get a flier and hope you end up with something like Covington who is really good on a dirt cheap contract.
One of the big mistakes gms make and people make in general is making decisions based on sinks costs. Tibor may be a backup big man but we won't find out this year... If we don't find out this year then we don't pick up his option. So what good does that spot do us?
