Should the Jazz go for an upgrade at PG?

Yeah he has been tearing it up for the Jazz both last season and so far this season. Look for him to be traded if the right deal comes along. He is a think first shooting point guard not a help his teammates type of guard. Heck most people consider him a combo guard and not a pure point guard at all. A difference of opinion is what makes horse racing, and your welcome to yours.

This lol.
I never said he had ever been tearing it up.
But I mean seriously, what else around the league are you looking at?
Any ideas that the Jazz could actually afford??
Unless your thinking they might hold their salary under the cap for this season, and try to get Deron Williams back next year.
Consider D-Will and D-Harris on the same team, would be sweet.
At least Devin wouldn't hang his head like a depressed emo girl after every loss.

We are in a position to go after another point guard. Look at what other posters are saying about Harris:

1. Harris is good how? Great outside shooter?
Nope, that's not it.

Great court vision, really facilitates his teammates for open shots?
Hmm, not really.

Plays awesome D? Shuts his man down!
Well, can't say as I've really seen that out of him.

Maybe it's his incredible will to compete and win, ala Ronnie Price.
Wait, no, not so much.

He's fast. Yeah, that's it. But wait, aren't a lot of guys out there fast? And don't you need more out of your STARTING POINT GUARD than fast?

Harris sucks. All I hear from those describing him was that he used to be an Allstar. Big friggin whoop. I'd rather have Hayward at the point so we could at least have 5 good basketball players on the court at the same time.

1. Harris? He has looked like crap....

1. Harris. I really thought he was better than this. The sucky thing is if he continues to play this bad he is no good on the market. I think we all need to be harris fans and hope he gets it together so by the trade deadline we can get something good for him.

Yes I have seen the posters comments about this.
We all know there's nobody else, so deal with it.
Worse comes to worse, and you'll have either Watson or Tinsley who are decent in their own rights.
I wouldn't mind Hayward running the point at times, but there's no way he could be a consistant full time point guard. He would have way too many turnovers.

Patience, my young grasshoppers! I agree with Sportsnutz, continue to build through the draft and play the young guys. In a couple of years the Jazz will be up battling for championships. I would think Rondo would be a disaster on a young team. The kid has skills but he has a HUGE ego and has been at adds with his teammates (vets). Why do you think Boston would even consider getting rid of him?

What does everyone think we need in a PG? Do we want a PG like Rondo, who has limited shooting ability, including at the line, but plays defense and passes at an elite level? It comes down to making choices. As PKM said, the next few draft classes don’t look as good for PG’s, so you definitely go with BPA. Here is a list of possible PG’s organized by efficiency. And by the way, I don’t like Harris strictly for his horrid defense; I’m also for giving Burks a chance at PG. I saw some amazing defense from him on W. Mathews and nice passes in the preseason. His offensive game will come along. I think Burks will be a better PG than many of these players below, and the reality is that they're essentially the best options for the next few years, unless we go after Knight, Irving, Walker, maybe, gulp, Jimmer.

Curry
Rondo
Lowry
Holiday

Udrih
Conley
Stuckey
Augustin
Jennings
Collison
Lawson
Farmer
Barea
Dragic
Hinrich

Hinrich is a 3rd guard at this stage of his career. Doubt he's really an "upgrade."
A guy that can run an actual offense and hit shots is an upgrade. The Jazz don't have one of those right now. In the event Hayward can do that, it's nice to have a PG that doesn't need the ball in his hands to have an impact.

Harris has done one thing really well in his career: blow by his matchup and either get a layup, a foul, or a collapsing defense and makes an assist. If he can still do that, he won't for much longer, and the Jazz don't have a roster that maximizes that ability (floor-spacing, both for him to attack and to pass when the D collapses).

Hinrich is a very boring player that does all the right things. I don't know where he's at athletically these days, but he's also a tenacious defender.

I like this list, Rondo played extremely well today. He hit some great outside shots and looks like he has more confidence with his outside shot. The Jazz could always trade for a late-round pick and get a point guard like Shabazz Napier or Tony Wroten Jr.

Hinrich was anchored down by a ridiculous contract early in his career that paid him way more than he was worth.

He's a combo guard who can handle the ball and is tall enough to play the two. Yes, D-Will broke his ankles about a dozen times but he's not a bad team defender.

His FG% has crept upwards during his career. He's about a 40% shooter from 3 now.

He's clearly better than Bell and Miles. Jazz should give him a shot and if doesn't work out he's expiring. If it does work out they can offer him a more modest contract while we try to find out if Burks is for real.

After watching Rondo play today I'm convinced he is just what we need. If not for Rondo the celtics would've been killed. He hit the outside J, he got to the rim at will, and is the best defensive pg in the NBA, you would be hard pressed to find someone who plays harder then him. Rondo would be an instant fan favorit.
