Should this guy have been arrested?

Strangling can be a pretty humane way to die TBH. Much better than slitting the dog's throat, or whacking it over the head with a pair of pliers like a fish.

My great love for dogs, puppies in particular, made me outraged at first.

But what right do I have to judge what other people eat? As long as it really was a "humane killing", and it was his dog, we should let him go.

I'm sorry, even as an avid dog lover, this is ********.

Yeah, it's pretty detestable by my standards, but if the guy wanted he could have dropped the dog off to be killed by the "humane society." So if he has them kill his dog he's a good guy but if he kills his dog he's a monster and should face significant prison time?

I was staying with my aunt, uncle and cousins when I was a kid. My uncle had cattle and was a Sheriff's deputy, lived close tot eh Utah/Arizona border. A real cowboy type.

Anyway. they had a few boxers and one was still pretty young. While I was staying there a neighbor came over and told my uncle that the dog had gotten into his chickens...again. Well, my uncle had warned the dog before... My uncle made things right with the neighbor and made absolutely sure it would never happen again.

People are buying the idea he killed the family pet (which is a puppy) for food? Wow, ok.

It's a shame we don't live in a country where you can get a ****ing burger for a dollar on nearly every street corner. If not for that people would have to resort to killing puppies for meat (because we all know they are a plentiful and great source of meat).

Anyone who has children and would kill their pet for any reason other than euthanasia (or unless we are living in apocalyptic times and food does become a valid excuse) is a piece of **** ****ing psychopath, and I hope Florida does the right thing and throws the book at this jagoff.

But it's okay to drop you pet off at the humane society to be killed for whatever reason.

My friends dog tried to bite my girlfriend one time and I kicked it in the ribs. Didnt try to eat them though.

Do you think people can eat meat from other sources and not be considered psychopaths?

Every shelter I've been to at least makes an attempt to adopt the pet out, and then euthanizes them humanely.

The thing about shelters though is that if they had the resources they would all be a no kill shelter (and since the 70s there has been a substantial decline in the number of pets killed at shelters). They aren't psychopaths who kill puppies to eat them.

If someone wants to start a puppy farm for the intent purpose of eating them, fine with me. My guess is that in this country it would be a horrid business model and I would use my resources to boycott them and try to put them out of business.

If wild puppies existed and someone went to hunt them, fine with me.

And heck, even though I hesitate to say "fine with me" on this following one, if some sick **** wants to adopt a puppy for the sole purpose of eating it, even that doesn't cross the line this guy did. This guy had children who grew up with the pet and decided to eat it. Father of the ****ing Year material right there. This guy did not do this for food. He did it either because he's completely mentally insane, or because his children did something he disapproved of and he wanted to punish them for it by mentally scaring them for life. Either way **** him.

Considering I eat meat every day from other sources, I would say yes to your question. But I am sane enough to not eat my pets. To use a pretty classic example, it's one thing to buy a rabbit to raise as food, another to buy it as a pet and then decide "well **** it, I'm going to kill it now and eat it." The latter suggests a highly unstable mind.

You mean like wolves & coyotes? They actually will pay you reward money to kill coyotes and you have your panties in a bunch of this guy?

Yes. Somewhere in life I learned how to actually differentiate between hunting a wild animal and killing a pet.

I'm siding with Nate on this one. Killing and eating his children's pet? demented. As pointed out food is easily and readily available. They were not starving and it is not the custom.
