Should we choo-choo a Neg Train on Colton?

Probably all depends on how much beer she/he drank that night.

Weekends are always fun around here. Usually starts around 8pm on Friday and rages through Sunday evening. Every once in a while you'll get the rogue poster that gets lit on a weekday evening but nothing is better than Saturday night around 11pm - 1am. Except PKM. His wife is pregnant and he's grounded from booze.

O'reilly?

That lasted about a week. I party erry night bro. Foreal.

Be assured that had nothing to do with Stg. Nor do I care about any rep circle jerk enough to insinuate anyone in particular is doing it. Besides, y'all on top because you deserve to be and saying otherwise is stupid jealousy. Zulu's next with a little volume.

I liked it more when rep wasn't always know & neg rep was used more conservatively. It could all be nostalgia though, who know.

I knows. I miss verlin.

PKM is prolific...and not only with his posting.
When Daddy PKM "retires" from this board, it will likely be taken over by his spawn. Let's just hope the seed in this case is better than the parent and not the reverse (like Larry H and Greggy Boy).

Can we get a summary of the pros and cons in all of this?

Colton has earned my respect and isn't prone to jumping to conclusions in the least, so I have his back on this. But I also see the other side of things and prefer differently. Then again, I'm not a moderator who has to deal with all the whining from butthurt posters reporting every instance of internet harassment.

I've never reported a post & prefer offended people to deal with it in a more "manly" way. I.e. we used to pos rep people who put "this d-bag negged me for ***" in the rep thread. I think it's more shameful to get called out for being an *** than it is for Colton to have to tighten things up over alleged abuse and for others to feel shackled by it. Can't we start taking care of things the old fashioned way (hint: that'll take more reps per day and a more equitable formula. My feel rep is way too high in comparison to those who post better content on lower volume).

I think this has ran its course.

No it hasn't. I don't care about this Cy-Nikkk thing, but I do want to voice input on how I prefer things to be. I don't like the current system and would hate to see it tightened even further because two posters pushed the modstaff over their limits.

It may have ended here today but it hasn't ended in the behind the scenes decision making.

#liberate rep

I admit I haven't thought through this stuff at all.. so I'll just trust your end stinks on it.

I personally think Colton handled things a bit immaturely or even unprofessionally.. but we're all human and prone to make mistakes.. even mods.

Perhaps I made a mistake in how I handled things, but what's the proper response from an admin when a user indicates he feels he's being bullied by another user? I looked into the posts that were neg repped, and didn't see anything particularly neg rep worthy. Plus the rep comments were, and I quote, "negged hard", "yup", "stop being a loser", and "losing mentality", so it seemed to me that Hotttnickkk had a legitimate gripe. I decided, however, that it didn't really seem infraction worthy so it seemed that the appropriate response was to neg rep the neg repper. Which I did, after giving Cyrone a warning which was promptly ignored.

I'm actually not trying to be overly critical, which is why I have included you in my empathisizing. I also said I may have done the exact same thing.

Like I have said earlier.. it may have been better to say, "you've gotten on my last nerve and if I see it again, I'll give you a 6 month ban."

That takes away a poster's ability to martyr themselves and cause more chaos. It's all hindsight though.

If there was a vote to abolish rep I'd be for it, and I honestly didn't give much of a **** before this.

Cy has used rep in the worst ways. I'd be very curious to know whether he has ever negged someone with a higher rep power. Doubt it. It's always some stupid stupid power play.

Use to neg Trout back in the day all the time. Negged PKM many a time before (though that may have been when we were at equal rep).
