There is one thing universally loved by people specifically sports fans… that is complaining. I’m trying to be measured without dick riding the FO. I understand most of what they have done the last two years. There are things I was skeptical of at the time that turned out rough but for the most part they haven’t made a bad bad move.
For now I'm dick riding because they have nailed the important moves.

When you draft a guy who is universally thought of as a top 5 rookie at 16 your dick should be rode.

To me a plan is a loose outline of what you want to do, not a direct step by step written out guide for the next 3 years.

They wanted to buy cheap on a talent. It hasnt worked out yet, but it can still be salvaged.

And the hardest part of the plan was the Gobert/Mitchell trade and they nailed that. That wasnt some Sam Presti lucks into superstars bending owners in a way that helps him kind of luck BS. It was legit master craftsman trade work.
I agree it’s not a blue print… I’m not even sure it’s like a map… I think it’s more like a compass and they are like “let’s go north” and then the “plan diverts from there. That works for a while but eventually you have to make hard moves toward your final destination. We are headed towards a decision point in the next 9 months or so. Now is going to be some of the harder decisions that start to lock you in a bit more.

If Presti was lucky so was DA and JZ. Both got things that became more than what they thought they were getting. The degree of luck and skill is arguable with both.

Hopefully DA refilled his viagra prescription then.

Welcome to the end of the 2nd year of "the forever rebuild" or "maintain optionality". The previous era was "bake the cake", preceded by "don't skip steps".

No need to downplay the Rockets young dudes, they are very talented.

I just dont get being doomer about the Jazz.

Keyonte is at least a top 5 rookie and many think he is the #3 rookie in the class. Hendricks defensively looks legit and offensively you can see some promise. Sensabaugh could be good in 1-2 years.
You are correct and that came out wrong. They are talented but to ever become stars/elite they got leaps to take that may or may not ever happen.

Going full rebuild at this point would be an admission that we have had no idea what we were doing the last few years.

Just a quick reminder:

And I don't think the length of the rebuild is the issue. I think the frustration is playing in the middle seems like it will yield a team that might be as good as the team we tore down. So if you want to rebuild then build up something with the championship potential. I don't know that drafting at #9 is going to be the best way to build a contender (I realize the plan has more parts than that). I think that era was coming to an end sooner than later but I think it caught some by surprise a bit.

With the multiple tear downs and with the West being really competitive the next year or two at least... I think we could end up doing a non-Lauri trade where we trade Collin for picks or prospects and end up being a bottom 2-3 team in the west. End up 6th-ish in the lotto standings next year and maybe get lucky in a good draft. So a modified kick the can down the road strategy... but another year of losing for Lauri and I worry we may break him.

The next move is more nuanced and measured and will affect the long term a lot imo. Push in for a star and it may limit the ultimate ceiling of the team. Decide to tear it to studs and its a longer process than many wanted to sign up for and maybe has the ultimate ceiling some are looking for.

Love the new avi… hope it doesn’t spell doom for Kris though.

I take back what I said. I am impatient. I want to get out of the compete for half/quit for half type of season. I don't care how long this thing takes, but we're getting the least amount of benefit from winning/losing this way. I just want things to be done well and the last two years hasn't inspired the most confidence for me.
