Really this is nothing new to Android, I've been able to do this for the past few years on my Droids... Besides the stand alone Google Voice commands, there have been apps available that do the same and more this and this are just two examples. There are more available. It's a nice feature and I'm sure that with Apple pushing it like they are, that the new Iphone will sell out in record time, even though it's still lacking 4g...
 
Look you people do not understand. Apple did this. They invented it. They invented the cell phone and the touch screen. Anyone who had anything remotely similar first were still stealing from Apple, they just weren't aware of it yet. Apple invented ice cream and apple pie and baseball and "Gone Fishing" signs and the internet and the Grand Canyon and bananas. Give credit where credit is due people.

So you could ask it math questions? Chemistry questions? current event questions? Historical questions? Unit conversions etc....

How dumb are you? Apple never said they invented it. They bought the technology in 2010 from the Siri creators.


Maybe you should do some reading before you open that hole you call your mouth.

Yes, I know of the difference. How do I know? Because you can do both with an Android phone, and have been able to for a long time.

You don't remember when T-Mobile was advertising this like they were the only ones with it? They called it the "genius button" but it was really just the "search" button of any Android phone.

This video is from like 18 months ago. That was several versions of Android ago, and the functionality has improved lots with each newer version. But here is how it used to look and work back then:

That was stock Android 18 months ago. As has already been posted, there are many apps that you can install on Android (for free) that add even more functionality to the voice recognition. Here is one person comparing vlingo to siri:

Don't hate on Apple for being smart enough to let you know what they can actually do. Did Android have it first? Sure. Did anyone know about it? Doesn't sound like many. It is not Apple's fault that Android is too dumb to market their technology, instead marketing how they can do the things Apple already does.

Uh, there are more Android devices out there than IOS devices. You may not have known about it, but plenty of others did. Android has had a bigger market share than IOS for quite a while.
