What's new

Sirkickyass, Moderator.

I wish you guys could all get along :\ I like Aint and Kicky. Aint's funny yet somewhat informed when you get past the bs and Kicky's a good mod and a dedicated jazz fan.

Just too bad.

Aint no thang, KhaOZ. There will always be some people who don't like others, wherever you go. So what?

If you make anything beyond Milquetoast posts, there are bound to be some who don't like what you say. For a significant segment of them, not liking what you say immediately transmutes to "I don't like that poster." For a significant segment of them, "I don't like that poster" immediately transmutes to "that poster should be banned." Again, so what?

Well, unless mebbe some of those who have already decided that a poster should be banned because they, personally, don't like the guy are mods who are asked to vote on taking steps which will lead to banishment. But even then, who really cares, except mebbe for the guy who gets banned, ya know?

I agree you should not need to agree with someone in order to respect them and/or like them. In particular, I would like to say to Gameface, the former TheItinerantSon (I'm not sure if he is here or under which handle), the pearl, JohnDeereJerry, Hopper/aintnuthin, and Mono/Stickler that as much as we have disagreed in the past, I hope you all realize that I value your inputs and find your points of view to be informative and substantive, and I hope you realize that I think you are all good posters and comrades. I'm sure I am leaving people off that list, and I apologize for that.

Wow, I'm honored to be on the list, and the feeling is mutual. I've disagreed with both you and Sirkickyass on several issues and I've learned a lot form the exchanges and feel that it has always been my ideas that were challenged and never me personally. SKA can be arrogant, but then again it's easy to confuse confidence for arrogance. And really, when you know that you know there's no reason to pretend to be uncertain.

...when you know that you know there's no reason to pretend to be uncertain.

By the same token, there is no reason to pretend that you know something when you are in fact, or at least should be, uncertain.

“The trouble with the world is not that people know too little, but that they know so many things that ain't so.” (Mark Twain)

I need to repair my now tarnished reputation (thanks Raspberry):

I WASN'T A TERRIBLE MODERATOR most of the time.

Thanks for listening.

And Kicky should keep on being Kicky. Why would we want anything less?

You were a wonderful mod, and one of the nicest people on this site ever.

Hopper, I had something else entirely written up, but I actually like you so I'll just suggest you drop this. This site is owned by Jason and moderated by people he's chosen. If you've got a problem with that you should either handle it in private with Jason and the moderators, drop it, or just go somewhere else.

I personally think they've been exceedingly tolerant of your ranting against them. In the end, as you've acknowledged, this isn't a matter of who's right and who's wrong, so stop trying to prove that you're right. It isn't relevant.

Game, people can be as arbitrary, capricious, and irrational as they wanna be, true dat. They should just say so, rather than denying it. It's the hypocritical self-righteousness and lack of sincerity that kinda sticks in my craw, ya know? As least you're straight-forward about it, suggesting that you would not tolerate dissent, and that you wouldn't pay the least bit of attention to "right" or "wrong" in the process. Tell it like it is, homey!

Maybe you don't hear what I'm saying. You're calling another man out in the middle of his own damn front room. In my world those are fighting words, and it doesn't have so much to do with dissent as it does manners in another man's home.

Well, yeah, I see what you're sayin now, eh, Game? This message board is like a living room. I kinda see the country that way too, ya know? This is America, and America always has a duly-elected, clear-cut leader, called the President. It's Obama now, and just before that it was Bush. It doesn't matter who's in office, under those circumstances, he's the leader of the country, and it's his living room. Critics should either just keep they sorry mouth shut or else leave the country.

Like good ole give em hell Harry Truman done said about McArthur, ya know: "He can treat Harry Truman that way, but, by God, he can't treat the President of the United States that way!"
