Just a thread to post updates about the Stars on.

Their first game is going on right now and the starting lineup sans Naz Long is:

PG: Jarius Lyles
SG: Isaiah Cousins
SF: Stephaun Branch
PF: Willie Reed
C: Tony Bradley

Willie Reed and Tyler Cavanaugh put up G-League super-star stat lines tonight in a big win.

35 and 11 with 9 three's for Cavanaugh.

31-16-4 for Willie Reed.

Tyler Cavanaugh should be in uniform for the Jazz. He was 9-14 from 3 with 11 rebounds. Seems to me he is your stretch 4 to let Rudy free to devour souls down low.

Willie Reed +42 against Iowa.

I know it's the G-League but in two games he and Cavanaugh have played great.

He's coming for Tony Bradley's roster spot.

I don't know if he can defend but he was solid on offense in Atlanta. Probably a rotation player at some point in his career. In the sacramento pre-season game DM talked with him a lot on the bench... was a lot of interaction going on... especially for an end of roster guy.

What's his defense like? Color me intrigued. I was at the first quarter of the game last night and saw his three threes in that quarter. He's 6'9" and appears to be a capable rebounder for a 4 (something I hate about playing small-ball fours). Here's some notables on his track record:

Four years in college, putting up an average of 3 threes per game, hitting on 37.2%. However, his junior and senior years he combined for 41.2% on 4 attempts per game. He averaged 8 rebounds per 36 in college. In 39 games with the Hawks last year, he averaged 6.2 3PA per 36, hitting 36%. Averaged 8.8 RP36 and 12.7 PP36. His 11 games in the G League last year averaged 24 minutes. 45.1% on threes on 7.1 attempts per 36. 11.1 rebounds per 36 and 22 points per 36.

If he keeps it up I have no issue with that. Heck, if he keeps it up he might be taking some Favors minutes as well.

Reed is fast, athletic, has good hands and has zero hesitation:

I'm floored by this dude's inside scoring skills.

He was a good rotation nba player at one time... and this is why you don’t draft vanilla centers with first round picks. Lots of true centers out there... why spend a pick and years developing one.

Willie Reed changed 4 teams in 3 years for some reason.

He lead MIA on DRTG in '16-17 (72 games 14.5 mpg)

Actually reminds me a lot of favors in those videos. Except much more active, mobile, and quick. So much hustle in those highlights.
A rich mans favors.
