Some new developments for Cavs' pick

Alright then, how about this..

I think this is how it is. Cavs are deciding whether to go with Kanter or Valanciunus.

If they choose Kanter: Then they need to pick him #1 and pick Knight #4 (cos they can't risk Minny or Jazz picking Kanter)

If they choose Valanciunus: In this scenario Cavs take Irving #1, Minny will take DWill_2 and Jazz will take either Kanter or Knight. Then Cavs can just pick Valanciunus at #4.

I think they're looking at Kanter again to see if he's worth the drop off from having to settle with Knight at #4 by not picking Irving at #1.

Nice analysis. I'm not sure if it's accurate, but nice analysis.

Listening to 1320 KFAN. Bolerjack made a good point. He said just because the Cavs were working Kanter out again doesn't mean they're gonna take him at one. It just means they think he's going to be available at four.

This.

Or, if they REALLY love him, then they'd consider making a trade, if necessary, to move up and get him.

Yes, good stuff. Why are you so confident they are that high on Valanciunus?

I have a feeling that they like at at #4 (if DWill_2 and Kanter are gone) in that second scenario.

He's got good upside and can be an anchor for them at Center - so again he would be the BPA and fill a need at Center for them.

After him I think it's no secret there's a significant drop off in talent, potential & upside.

I agree they're likely debating between Kanter and Valanciunus at #4, but if they decide they like Kanter better, I think they'll still pick him at 4. And if he's not there, then they'll pick Valanciunus and still be happy - because whether they get the guy they really want at #4 or not, he's still Enes Kanter and this is still a weak draft.

I agree with the Valunciunus angle, and have posted the same. CLvland can really take any of the top 4 players at #1 and still land Jonas at #4. If you are building an NBA team and you don't have an elite wing (clvland doesn't and there are none available in this draft) you build around pgs and Centers. Jonas is a true center with huge potential.

But say he turns out to be just Marc Gasol and not Paul Gasol--it doesn't matter to Clvland because the 4th pick is like a free play, a do-over, a free shot. It cost them next to nothing.

I hear what you're saying, but if they think there is a chance that Kanter can become an All Star (with his offensive potential), then I don't think they'd wanna be the team passing on him.

If Valanciunus' ceiling is Chandler..

Kanter's ceiling has to be Nowitzki..

Wow..

I think this could mean:

Cavs taking Kanter @ #1
Minny taking Irving or DWill_2 @ #2
Jazz taking Irving or DWill_2 @ #3
Cavs taking Knight @ #4

If I were Cavs, I'd definitely do this. This scenario basically guarantees Cavs getting Knight at #4 cos there's no way Jazz is gonna pass on either Irving or DWill_2 to take Knight.
You have a really great imagination...you should write children's books.

Alright then, how about this..

@Jerry Zgoda: Kanter's agent says his guy going back to Cavs on Mon for 2nd workout and to meet owner. Says they're not auditioning for No. 4...

Of course that's what his agent is going to say. He doesn't do his client's draft stock any favors by saying "Yeah, it's probably for the fourth pick." There are still other teams watching.

The Cavs do need SIZE, so given that, if Rubio has indeed signed with the T'Wolves, the T'Wolves will likely take Williams for their SF slot. So the Cavs should be pretty sure either Irving or Knight will be there at #4, wheras Kanter likely would NOT. V-E-R-Y I-N-T-E-R-E-S-T-I-N-G....

I don't think Kyrie Irving's 11 college games are that much more conclusive than Kanters resume (U19 and nike summit). Add to the fact Irving refused all combine athletic tests and competitive workouts, which Kanter did for them.
Gilbert is wise to think this one over long and hard even if he does ultimately go with Irving.
