Somebody explain the lure of Park City

The valleys do have a lot of stuff going for them. Plenty of walking and cycling trails. The canyons. Closer to downtown for jazz games and the theater. Utah has plenty of the movie theaters with recliners too. Good restaurants. Plenty of jobs. But the traffic, overcrowded communities, and poor air quality are almost becoming unbearable imo. What’s the point of all the trails when it hazy and smokey so often? I liked the utah of 1999 more than 2019. Anyone else remember when there was actually some space in between sandy, Draper, and Lehi? For a while the only thing in between the prison and Lehi main was a damn Harts gas station and convenience store. Then micron and thanksgiving point came in. And now it’s just a gigantic cluster

Its a lot of this.

There a lot of huge beautiful homes in Park City. Celebrities probably want to have place where they still feel rich but in a smaller community.
 
The bars are pretty good compared to most places, decent amount of entertainment with PC Live & what not, lots of recreation & skiing opportunities.

Overrated for sure compared to Heber or Kamas/Oakley if you ask me. Traffic is a joke in the mornings.
 
A couple of the sports bars there on the main strip seemed lame. Didn’t go in. I liked No Name Saloon and Grill a lot. Cool vibe. Awesome outdoors heated rustic concrete seating on 2nd floor balcony which was nice since it was like 30 degrees out. Went to another one late morning and afternoon too whose name I can’t remember. It was decent.

It's a yuppie oasis in the mountains. It's quiet, scenic and relaxing. If you're staying at a high end lodge or hotel like Stein Erickson or the St. Regis, the amenities are pretty rich. Good skiing, good golf, and Sundance made it hip. If you're rich and looking for something to do for a weekend, it's a thing.
 
This thread makes me kind of want to drive up there for the first time in like 8 years. I'll walk down the main street, hit some souvenir shops, see what the old silver mine was like, stop at some place that serves beer. Or, I'll just sit in my basement, alone, drinking beer I made and post on jazzfanz. Yeah, probably just sit in my basement getting drunk on my own beer posting on jazzfanz. What's so ****ing special about Park City? Stupid 1%ers and their fancy cities that I have to pay to park in. That's probably why they named it "Park" City, because of how much it costs to park there.
 
It comes down to orgies. I'm not even kidding.

PC is a polyamorous haven for some of the wealthiest, most exclusive group of jet setters in the country. The independent film and winter sports industries are the backdrop for it, and the resulting underground scene (which is not that big of a secret if you know who to ask) that has developed there since the 2002 Olympics is downright decadent in almost every way you can imagine. Eyes Wide Shut sort of stuff.

I work at a Canyons Resort/hotel, it's not bad, overrated obviously. Nice scenery compared to a lot of places these people that stay see. I've only been to The Spur a few times and thought it was cool. I've heard some of the others are overpriced. I've only really frequented in the past couple years recently at Bout Time Pub in Kimball Junction and they have quite a few of those in Utah & Colorado.

Actually met Mehmet Okur here in Park City a few weeks back.
