Actually the main mormon rip off by trey and matt was the movie called cannibal the musical and gosh darn it is the funniest movie ever made.

Boy, am I behind on the times, hey? My question is this: Why is the N.Y.Post bringing this up NOW? They certainly could have covered a more endearing story, don't ya think?
 
There is nothing to explain. The play mocks Mormons and they have every right to do so.

Any problem you have with that is on you, not them.

The story is that compared to other plays the people going to "Book of Mormon" are younger men who don't normally go to plays but are fans of Matt and Trey's other work, specifically "South Park" which is a cartoon with a lot of crude humor and foul-mouthed little kids. So these guys going to the play are drinking heavily and acting rowdy compared to your average play-going individual.
 
And also Orgazmo movie is pretty similar to this book of mormon musical. I don't think they belittle mormonism. What they have done up until now actually majorly popularized mormonism and I am sure high elders know this.

For CJ's benefit, Orgazmo is a movie about a Mormon kid from SLC who for some reason is in L.A. and is trying to find a way to get enough money to get married in the SLC Temple. One thing leads to another and he eventually gets cast in a porn movie called "Orgazmo" which is about two porn superheroes, one of whom has an orgazmarator that he uses to fight bad guys. The orgazmarator is a device that when activated can cause the person it is pointed at to immediately have an orgazim. Joe agrees to act in the porn but refuses to participate in the actual sex scenes and insists that they use a "stunt-****". There's lots of humor about Mormons and the porn industry.
