Special Christmas message to JazzFanz from Georges Niang

Actually, about 15 or so years ago, I read something on a personal site that Harpring had and he talked about using glucosamine chrondroitin for his knees. I was playing in a 50 and over league then, and having some issues with arthritis. He sent back a message, explaining his regimen and what supplements he was taking. While I was a major AK fan, I don't recall any interactions with him. However, I have had personal interactions with Bob Lanier and Pat Riley, both funny stories before they became famous.

Weren’t you the dude who looked up where AK lived and staked out his place or something?

Apocryphal story some guys made up because I called up One Brow once because I thought he was harassing me. Actually, it was Kanter. They said I broke into his house and stole his underwear. Of course not true.

Let’s not rehash the OneBrow saga. Especially not here. Especially not on Christmas.

No way Malone was under 5% body fat. He was probably more in the 6-8% range. You can't be a pro athlete his size and have the little body fat and mantain your body throughout a NBA season.

Yeah, you can google it. And I can’t be the only one who remembers Stockton and Malone competed to see who came into training camp with the lowest body fat. It was over a number of years.

[/quote]In the years to come, Karl Malone and I competed for the lowest body fat until we both got below what the staff thought were safe levels for a season of competition. Each of us teetered between 1 and 3 percent.
From Stockton’s autobiography.

Sorry, did the quote wrong.

The lowest number that came up on a google search was 4.8%, which I still don't believe because body fat is often measured incorrectly. But the biggest thing is that he isnt anywhere close to 3%.

This was awesome, are there are any other instances of some kind of interaction between a player and jazzfanz?
Back in the day, Jeff Malone was at RC Willey in Orem signing autographs late in the evening. There was no one around and we got to chat with him for a like 20 minutes.

There are similar stories I have with Greg Ostertag at ShopKo in Spanish Fork and Antione Carr at a gas station in Springville raising money for a basketball summer camp.

All were good dudes, especially Carr, him and his family were great to chat with

Please share the regimine if it worked... I’m starting to worry my playing days will be ending soon

You must be using bing search, LOL.

Generally not healthy to go too low, but many athletes do it with no ill effect observed.

I don't recall now. I did starting taking it. Not sure if it helped. I stopped taking it and instead took MSM which seemed to help more. Yoga is really good and so is swimming, if you are a swimmer. They keep you loose and flexible which is the key. Just keep playing but don't overdo it. If you twinge something, just stop, don't play on it because when you're older, your body takes time to recover.
