What's new

Start Harris, Hayward, Howard, Millsap, Jefferson (optimism galore)

Bring Earl, Burks, CJ, Favors, Kanter off the bench. Depending on how Favors/Millsap are playing stick with one down the stretch accordingly. Same for all five positions to be honest. But I do like having Howard in down the stretch. If he stays committed to playing D he is a very useful player to have.

Kanter shows great flashes, but it's going to take time for him to be consistent. The obvious hope is that Al plays a lot like he did against the Hornets more often than not, and Kanter won't need to be relied upon heavily. I am curious to see how Evans would fit into everything but at this point there's just no room (assuming there are no injuries and/or foul trouble).

If Ty goes to that rotation, we will be a playoff team without a doubt (barring major injury - unless to Bell). There is a lot to be excited about with this team!!!

Go Jazz!

Would prefer Favors in for Jeffy but I've been wanting Hayward/Howard all season.

Starters:
Harris
Hayward
Howard
Millsap
Favors

Make Kanter, Burks, CJ, Watson and Big Al the main bench guys,

I've been saying that we should be starting Harris, Hay, Howard, Paul, Al since preseason. Then give Bells minutes to CJ and Burks. Play Sap a tiny by at 3 whenever that matchup allows to give Favors some more time.

I like this. Al would be a problem though. He will not accept the role of a bench player.

Yeah that's why I kept him in the starting lineup. Preseason I thought it was a no-brainer to give Favors a minimum of 30 min a game, but if Millsap starts to turn it on (he's been awful, with the exception of a few spurts, through the start of the regular season) I think Favors would best be served coming off the bench. If he's playing real well, then ride him (pause). But Millsap has proven for four seasons now he's too good to not start in my opinion. He's earned it with me! It's a great dilemma to have though, no doubt.

It's looking like that going to be the next starting line up change. So we will see. It will definitely be an upgrade from bell in there. But I dont know about playoffs just yet. I think we will still be on the outside looking in. We are probably only going to go .500 this first half of the season. Then the second half gets real hard with a lot of road games. I still say Al needs to go. It was only the Eric Gordon less hornets that we beat. Plus they were on the road on a back to back. And we were coming off rest and we barely beat them with Al having a better game. Not trying to be negative. Just saying.

What about being flexible depending on who we play? We have some good defenders at various positions that Ty can use depending on who we play. Although, getting Howard more minutes is a must at this point.

My lineup:
Tinsley
Burks
Howard
Millsap
Favors

This is probably our best defensive lineup. Although, now that Harris and Watson are playing better, I think we can include either one of them to start. Harris is playing well with Howard so I like those two together.

Burks has the most talent but it seems the coaches don't think he's ready yet. Some say he gets winded fast. Some say he's too selfish. I think there is a bit of the rookie excitement that will probably need a bit more time before he settles down.

Hayward, however, has been a little hyper early on as well. He could start for us but perhaps we might do better with CJ starting, despite his silly mistakes, until Hayward calms down and Burks learns what is needed to break into the rotation. Mostly, because CJ's defense has been better than Hayward's so far.

I also prefer Favors and AJ together or Millsap and Favors over Millsap and AJ. However, not starting Millsap and AJ wouldn't sit well with either one, apparently. Who ends the game should depend on who is playing the best that particular game.

New lineup:

Harris
CJ
Howard
Millsap
AJ (End with Favors)

I'm on board with any lineup that lacks Bell at this point, but regardless of how we shuffle the lineup, there is no way we are making the playoffs this year with our current roster.

Like Hayward over Bell, but I don't like Big Al and Sap on the court together. Bring one of them off the bench. Screw their pride.

This.
You can't put Millsap on the bench until he proves that all his work to get into the starting lineup was a fluke..... which will never happen.
As far as Big Al goes..... who knows what's going to happen with him, because he limped off the court pretty heavily tonight.

This current roster can definitely make the playoffs, Mr. Negative.
Now if we didn't have Josh Howard in the middle, I would say you were right.
Howard seems to bring all the intangibles to bring these guys together.
Not to mention if you get Hayward playing like we all know he can play..... I see a 7th or 8th seed birth.

This team doesn't have the poise to win on the road. Let's get a road win first, then discuss playoffs. As for now, no chance.

Just being competitve on the road would be a nice start. 3 road games 3 blowout loses. Yes they are to some good teams. But even at home we have barely won against lesser competition than the road loses.

Raja is not the problem folks. We don't need his shooting and he is contributing to the defensive tone and ball movement in the first quarter. After watching a game in person last night, I get why Ty starts him. I would prefer he get reduced in minutes to 6 or 7 in the first and the third but that may happen. And as nice as Howard finished, his first half shot selection was absolutely horrific. Haven't seen that kind of chucking in a Jazz uniform in years. If he doesn't get over it, his minutes should be going down.
