I think it's totally fine for congress to ignore the wishes of 90 percent of Americans. That's totally what democracy is supposed to be about. Ignoring the people and doing whatever the big lobbyist wants you to do.

There are already background checks on all commercially sold firearms in the U.S.. Even the ones sold at gun shows.

So 90% of America has what they want.
 
BTW, when reading Kerr's comments, please keep in mind that Kerr’s father Malcolm was assassinated in 1984 ....

I'm totally fine with you misstating the situation. That's totally what democracy is supposed to be about. Ignoring the actual situation and adapting any crisis in order to get what you want.
